There is no right or wrong way to pray. You can talk to God in whatever way seems good you you. Just be honest and forthcoming because he knows it all anyway so why hide anything from him.

Almost forgot. I'M a Baptist so that would make me a Protestant

We talk to God. Out loud or quietly in our minds. The brass serpent in the wilderness was lost. Here was a totem that healed people. The people got to worshiping it, so God took it away. He never parted the Red Sea again. This is so we WON'T develop a fixed way of doing things. God is always evolving in His actions to us. We need to try to keep up with Him. We try not to be so perfect in our prayers but rather consistently sincere.
Like the prayer lines in church now;we are commanded to be anointed and then healed; not to get in line. i don't think the line will be there in a few years.

Prayer is not a ritual, it's just conversation with God. You just talk to Him.
