i am doin biotech at a university here in australia. my visa is expiring on 15th march. i had a research project of around 9 months which i finished and submitted my thesis in time on 6th december. i did my best to make sure i get my results in time. i jst got to know last week that my supervisor has nominated the examiners jst 2 weeks back and it is goin to take another 2-3 months atleast before I get my results. The immigration dept. is unwilling to extend my visa. i dont know what to do. According to my thinking, It is university's fault that they are not being able to give me the results in time. I am depressed because of this issue. Would anyone know on how to go by getting this issue resolved? any legal advices? thanks a lot.

G'day,

My suggestions are as follows:
1. Speak with the international student advisor in your campus
2. If there's no such person, arrange a meeting to speak directly to the director of the international office in your uni. Do not forget to bring proof from the school/faculty in regards to the status of your course.
3. You can also enlist the student union to help getting your case forward to the director of international office.

You are right. Department of Immigration will not extend your visa without the COE from the uni. Therefore the effort has to be done with the uni.

I'm sorry that you have to experience this problem and wish you the best outcome of your case.
