http://scriptures.lds.org/en/ether/2/8-10,12#8 this seems to contradict the belief system that others had, and kinda proves that the book of mormon can contain the false beliefs of the translators. and scribes and society.

Well, I think so, if you mean "serve" as in "believe". If you choose not to believe, then punishment would be hell, within the Christian faith, which I am.

If you mean "serve" as in follow Him and share the Good News, then, no punishment would come if you BELIEVE.

Interesting. I'm new with Christianity ok, so my knowledge is building.

I believe by FAITH a man is saved in Christ. But since your source is a Latter Day Saint (Mormon) website I ask you this why is the Endowment ceremony of the Mormons exactly the same as the Master Mason Freemasonic ritual? Why do LDS have a burial ritual with an apron just like the masons? Joseph Smith stole the rituals he learned in the masonic lodge and created a false religion. My G-pa was a High Priest in the secretive LDS church and my G-Ma was buried in her magic underwear with the symbols of masonry NOT Christ sewn in her apron and burial garmets.

Choosing not to serve God is by its logical inverse the same as saying that you oppose Him and work towards attempting to openly rebel against Him. In ancient times God made total disaster and annihilation of whole nations who, for whatever foolish reasons, refused to serve Him as well as individuals. Just ask Pharoah.

Punished by who. God ? God does not punish. Experiences present themselves on our path...We respond to those experiences as we do...If we don't respectfully handle those experiences well then life is not pleasant. Handled well...life if more peaceful (Godlike). When these bodies die and our soul is released...If we are to return to God...we do. If not of the soul to return to God...we are simply not Of Him, Of God . . . But, not punished. If it's taken as ' punishment ' that we are not Of God, that is ' punishment ' that we brought about ourselves...Not from God. And...just my thought...God is not be be ' served ', He is to be personally known as a loved one, to have a relationship with . . . not serve. To know Him is to know ourselves.

With a child's parents...they have a relationship them...not serve them. Harmony in the family...peaceful. Child misbehaves...they are guided and taught through lessons to do right. I personally don't care for the word ' punishment '. I more relate to the word ' discipline '...which is more guidance to knowing the right way. I think the word discipline came from the word disciple...which is a student of the teacher. To discipline someone is to guide and teach them...not punish, harm or cast them out.

The only "punishment" is the vindictiveness and violence of some godbots.

The godbots _claim_ "god wants you to do this!" when it's really the godbots who want it. They're just using absolutist religion as an excuse for forcing their will onto you.

This doesn't just apply to atheists like me who don't believe in mythologies. The godbots will attack each other; for example, fundy christianazis who tell catholics, "do what I say or you're going to hell!"

This question confuses me. I am not of this world. I am of God, and you're too, that is why the world hates you. But this is because the world hated Jesus first and that is why the world hates you, because you love and believe in Jesus. Do not listen to the foolish, they're sinners, and they're blind. God is with you and no one can take that away, no one! God bless you. Please let me know the answer to this question when you figure it out, I am very curious....bubbgnnr@yahoo.com

That is Korihor talking, not the Lord - about not being punished for not following God. Korihor is claiming there is no God so therefore no punishment...read on, see what happened to Korihor.

I guess that would depend on whom or what he chooses to serve instead. And even then, God in his mercy will forgive him, thru his son. But I wouldn't press my luck!!!

none of your details make sense. this is korihor speaking... as you later learn he was trying to deceive the people.

in fact you could express it as an analogy:

korihor : those people :: you : us.
