than on Sunday?

The Sabbath, 24-hours starting at sunset on Friday, is suppose to be a day of rest and personal/private communion with God. Going to church is not resting nor personal and private. It involves performing specific actions, and with a large group of people.

Some religious organizations (Seventh-Day Adventists, Seventh-Day Baptists, and certain others) claim that Christians must not worship on Sunday but on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath. They claim that, at some unnamed time after the apostolic age, the Church "changed" the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday.

However, passages of Scripture such as Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10 indicate that, even during New Testament times, the Sabbath is no longer binding and that Christians are to worship on the Lord’s day, Sunday, instead.

The early Church Fathers compared the observance of the Sabbath to the observance of the rite of circumcision, and from that they demonstrated that if the apostles abolished circumcision (Gal. 5:1-6), so also the observance of the Sabbath must have been abolished. The following quotations show that the first Christians understood this principle and gathered for worship on Sunday.

The Didache

"But every Lord’s day . . . gather yourselves together and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. But let no one that is at variance with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned" (Didache 14 [A.D. 70]).

The Letter of Barnabas

"We keep the eighth day [Sunday] with joyfulness, the day also on which Jesus rose again from the dead" (Letter of Barnabas 15:6–8 [A.D. 74]).

Peace and every blessing!

Suppose a benefactor gave you a new car. Not only that, this person paid the insurance, pre-paid the gas and maintenance, and said it was all covered as long as you were appreciative. To show that apprectation, all you have to do was set aside Wednesday to visit with him/her. Would you think you could really be respectful if you just decided to choose a different day to go see this person? Nobody was there at creation? Well, according to the Bible, Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day of creation, and introduced to the day set aside that evening. Jesus went to the temple on the seventh day Sabbath, and the Jews around the world don't seem to have any trouble agreeing on which day is the one. Even the Roman Catholic Church has acknowledged that Sunday is the first day of the week, not the seventh day Sabbath of the Bible. No, sending God a thank you card of His preference every week does not distract us from the focus on what we are thankful for, and why we seek to honor Him.

Hebrews 5:12 basically states that Melchisedeck brought the first "oracles" of God. This was before Moses and his Ten commanments. So what were the first oracles of God that Melchisedeck taught Abraham. Who is Melchezedeck and did he teach the Sabbath to Abraham? My guess is No! The Sabbath is Man-made- it means little in the larger picture.

Should go to church? Well.. thats another ?

Communion with God-when? How about all the time. I do not need a special day or hour or place! The spirit;the kingdom, is not a place, it lives within the heart of mankind.

For now...Peace!

Bear.

Some will try to convince you one of the 10 Commandment (the one the begins with the word REMEMBER) was changed or done away with. They try to use scripture but the scriptures they use has no DIRECT command or inference to the Sabbath. They have to 'plug in' the Sabbath to get those verses to say that the Sabbath is changed. IE: like the apostles meeting on the first day of the week automatically means a church service on Sunday when the verses say nothing about the direct change of the Sabbath to that day.

If the Sabbath was changed then:

Why would Christ and the Apostles not have a DIRECT CLEAR command to change it? Isn't it one of the all important 10 commandments? IE: Change the REMEMBER the Sabbath to REMEMBER THE NEW Sabbath...

Why then HISTORICALLY did the church wait 300+ years to get around to changing it?

The Sabbath has not changed since time (7 day cycle) began. It is God's character just like the other commandments. Period.

Hi. Happy Sabbath. Resting on the Sabbath begins at Creation when God, Himself, rested on the Sabbath Day. The Jews kept what God didn't change; therefore, they keep the Sabbath Day. Also, there are some of us Christians who keep God's unchanged original Sabbath Day, Take care.

Leviticus 23:3
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

To Keep the Sabbath Holy is ...Resting from your work, not making others work for you, and Gathering together with other believers.

"Holy Convocation"= Gathering together

Deuteronomy 5:12
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

WE ARE COMMANDED TO KEEP THE SABBATH DAY, as THE Lord COMMANDED. NOT CHANGE IT, OR MAKE IT A NEW DAY!!! Why else would he say, REMEMBER MY SABBATH?

Exodus 20:
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Don't make anyone work for you, (that includes buying or selling).

Don't let others decieve you. THERE IS NO DIRECT COMMANDMENT IN THE BIBLE TO CHANGE THE DAY OF WORSHIP! Yes, the Disciples broke bread on Saturday Night, but They also Kept the Sabbath Day.

Revelations 1:10 says The Lord's Day, doesn't mean its the 1st day of the week. Where in the bible does it say the Lord's Day is the 1st day of the week? It doesn't. But...

I can show you many examples of God saying

Exodus 20:10
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:

Exodus 31:15
seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD:

Exodus 35:2
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD.

WHY DOES GOD WANT US TO KEEP THE SABBATH DAY?
Ezekiel 20:20
And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

Jews met at Temple on the Sabbath. After the resurrection of Jesus his disciples broke bread together on the first day of the week, Sunday, in homes. They didn't forsake the assembling themselves together as the manner of some is". We are commanded to "Love one another" Impossible to do if we don't meet with each other.

The bible says "wherever two or more gather in my name, I will be with them" That is church. doesnt have to be in a specific building. Since we no longer live by the law, but by grace, we do not need to rest on a specific day. But we must find plenty of time to rest in God.

We are all one. We are all part of Jesus. We, the people in the Church, with you, are all part of the body of God, and we take the Sabbath to be together (as one) and worship God. God be with you.
