Where have you been? It is turning into a third world country right now. People roaming the streets here illegally from another country. People living ten people to a single family house and sleeping on the floor. People urinating in public and not thinking it's wrong. People driving with no license, registration, or insurance in an unsafe vehicle. People being killed because they are black in a hispanic neighborhood. People committing crimes like rape and murder, police and media looking the other way as they go back to mexico. Illegal aliens bringing disease in the USA that used to be almost eradicated like tuberculosis, measles, and smallpox. Women are being beaten, and raped and nothing being done because that's the way it is in their country. Police and government being bribed to look the other way when drugs are smuggled or worse than that. Politicians being bribed to pass laws or vote down laws with foreign interests, or big business (not American voters) in mind. Law enforcement corrupted by big business to look the other way when they commit financial fraud. Tax money being stolen from law abiding taxpayers to fund illegal alien activity's. Social structures and neighborhoods destroyed by the influx of illegal alien labor. You would have to live under a rock and be deaf and blind in America not to see this happening all over the country. Where have you been? Can't you see this?

Immigration brings cheap labor as well as highly qualified people (called brain drain). It all depends on the immigration policy, which can change according to the needs of a government. The USA government is doing what it is doing now, by some set plan. They know exactly what they are doing; as simple as that. The situation with immigration is not coinsidential.

America will not become a third world country, but the rich will become richer and the poor will become poorer. And there is plenty of middle class as well. That is the way political economy works in USA.

Immigration itself is not the enemy of the standard. The enemy is rather the government which may not be interested in blending the "imported population" into society. An example of this is Sweden which has had the most social program of immigration. Now there are too many, and they live separately away from the city core, not as mingling with the prior settlers...

One interesting example of how immigration works is Portugal. It used to be a third world country. When it entered EU, there were millions of immigrants (former colonies in Africa, Brasilians, Ukrainians, Chinese, Indus...), mostly illegal people, employed in construction, production and services as cheap labor. They have had problems which they engaged into solving, and the economy is better working now, althouth now there is crisis and unemployment... perhaps payday to the cheap way of solving....

The alternative of not allowing immigration sounds as bad option. It reminds me of South Korea as the only good example where that worked...

you mean little Cuba, look at today's applications like for example social services they want to know if you are Caucasian Afro-American Indian Latino etc. now on the new applications it says Spanish or Latino - non Spanish or Latino------- Spanish-Latino, Alaskan American Indian, black-African American, white. They do not even give the Caucasian Americans the courtesy to say so white is thrown at the end of the sentence. and then they are asked if they need a translator. my husband works two jobs and we can"t afford a Hummer. But if you sit in the parking of a welfare office that is what the Spanish drive up in mom,dad,and four kids. also SUV"s. the illegals are bringing drugs to the USA and the American people are getting hooked not the Mexicans their out buying homes cars and enjoying the American life. I do not want my tax dollars going to support an illegal family I want to help the American people. But it is much easier for our government to control the illegals than the American people. So they are trying to make the American people fade away and if you will look a round you can see it happening before your eyes.

Why are immigrants the last minority in America that it is OK to hate?

You cant hate blacks, orientals, Italians, Irish people, Jews, Native Americans, or gay people. You can however say "I hate immigrants" and half of the people in the room will agree with you.

Why is it that whenever a call in show is about immigration every second caller says: "I don't hate immigrants BUT" and then proceeds to tell you all the reasons they hate immigrants?

Why not just give up your hatred and educate yourself a bit.

Just as the Jews were not responsible for everything wrong in Nazi Germany immigrants are not the cause of every problem in America.
