Hinduism is not a religion. It is a culture, custom, tradition, usage, rite, etc.

In a traditional hindu marraige, the pandits recite some mantras and explain each and every vow that the couple needs to take. They explain each and every commitment that they need to make towards each other. This is the good part.

The bad part is, we don't follow them...

Like in any other Religious marriage, everything is Good! It works on Hope for a great Future. Just think of Marriage of Religion. Everything is fine with it, isnt it? (Except that your expenses are doubled ha ha ha and you have another person to give you orders and advices)
