from what I've seen, you keep the bits you like and chuck the rest out.

One thing to look at is definitions of words. What did a word mean when it was written in the original language (basically, Hebrew in the O.T. and Greek in the N.T., although there were exceptions). Also, does a word have more than one meaning?
***The following quotes may not be exact, but they're very close, and the meaning doesn't change***
For instance, shortly before his death, Jesus told the apostles "a little while and the world will see me no more." Yet, the apostles told people, concerning Jesus' second coming, that "every eye would see him" coming in the clouds.
At first, this seems like a conflict. However, if you'll check any standard dictionary, you'll find that "see" has more than one meaning. Besides to physically behold something with the eye, it can also mean to "understand" (someone explains something to you, and you may say, "Oh, I see.").
Now, in that light, those two Scriptures don't necessarily conflict. My understanding is that Jesus' return is invisible to human eyes, yet there are signs showing he has returned. In this way, both Scriptures are fulfilled. People no longer physically see him, yet from the signs of the times, they know, understand, or "see" that he has returned.
As an interesting side note, if you were to check archives of Old English terms (around the time of the King James translation), you'll find that jailers were often called "tormentors." So, a person being "tormented" was, simply, in jail...locked up and not free to move about. Since my personal understanding is that the Bible does NOT teach a "burning hell," this little thought can give a different view of the Revelation account that says bad people will be "tormented day and night in the lake of fire."
Well, since I said that, I guess I have to make one more point. Nearly the entire book of Revelation (Catholic - "Apocolypse") is written symbolically. That is, a thing in it stands for something else. For instance, there is no literal "beast with seven heads and ten horns" running around with a harlot riding it. Obviously, these symbolize something else. That is why the "lake of fire" may very well symbolize, not physical burning, but final, complete destruction (a thing that has been burned up no longer exists). Therefore, being tormented day and night forever in a lake of fire may well just mean being "jailed, or locked up" in death, never to exist again. This would also explain (O.T.) Job's request to be hidden in "Sheol" during the time he was being tested and was covered with boils.
Anyway, the truth is there if you want it. However, only those really looking for it will find it. The rest will simply come up with "prejudicial" answers about why something isn't true, but will have no evidence to support what they say. In closing, look for this evidence. Whatever is true will not be afraid to have evidence presented, since it will stand up to it.
P.S. -- Have you ever noticed that neither Jesus nor the apostles ever authorized, or even suggested, a paid clergy class? They didn't preach for pay, nor did the early Christians......interesting....

Hi,
there are 2 types of structure in any religion:-
1st is general &common ,
while 2nd is private&detailed.
1st starts from inside individual, moves radialy
towards all directions,his God,himself,family,
life itself ,,etc
2nd describes the most private attributes
of (era or society or religion),this part causes
conflictions.
to avoid that,we can study the first point
carefully,if there is no (SELF CONTRADICTION) it is ok,
other wise(I mean if there is such one),,no need
to describe that scripure as right or wrong,
no need to insist the details in it,
BUT due to selfcontradiction
AT LASTwe are human beings,have
mind, will, insight, and not a trash vessel ,can be
filled by anything.
AND we are witnesses not judges in this life,
So our witness affects the procedur ,not fans!
hi again

God is not the author of confusion. Which scriptures specifically do you claim conflict with each other?
