And have you learned something positive from it? Do you think studying other religions is a positive step towards tolerance?
Thank you.

Hi..
I took religion in my first year of Uni.. it was great.. we learnt about all the religions.. and I loved it.. it was my fave subject..

I, myself, have found it to be a great influence, as it has helped me understand the religions, especially Judaism and Christianity to its fullest..

Studying religions is a great step towards tolerance, I think... but you have to have the mindset to accept tolerance... I know some people who, once learning about other religions, came to hate those other religions even more..

A few weeks ago, I, and my friend, coordinated a Abrahamic Faith Forum, where the three religions that descended from Abraham, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, came together in a bid to understand their needs in our society.. tolerance and respect.. how to better the community through the leaders, etc...
It was honestly the best thing i have done in a long time..

Peace and Love..

I'm inquisitive of all things spiritual, And although most of the dogma of the various religions I've encountered is indeed similar. Peace, love and harmony will always be the path to tolerance. That's not to say your automatically imbued with such qualities by joining any religion. You should strive to bring these qualities with you no matter how you chose to associate yourself.

In my 37 yrs as a Christain, I have studied many religions & heard many preachers, & every one had a different ideal, So in 1972 I decided to see what the Apostles of Old taught, & there is where I laid my faith at, in the teachings of the Apostles.

Almost all of them. It has granted me tolerance to other religions, but it also helps me strengthen my faith as I am faced with arguments.

Wicca & other Neo-pagan traditions - because I find them interesting and their communities are very friendly and open.

Buddhism - because I find it makes sense.

Christianity - because we all have the morbid fascination with seeing what happens at a car accident.
