I connected my DVD player using the component output of the DVD to the component input of my TV using the existing RCA (yellow, red & white) but only blue color is displayed with distortions. Can you give suggestions in fixing my problem? Thanks.

yellow red and white connections are the 2nd worst cable to use, they might not be problery.

Use a scart that would reslove the problem

All the best wg

You're using the wrong connections on your TV and DVD !

IF your DVD has Component Connection
(Red, Green, Blue or Pr Pb and Y)
[[[connect them to the same]]]
(Red green blue or Pr Pb and Y) connections on the TV.....

Now....YOUR RCA Cable may be broken, which can cause a Blue Screen too....
You may want to try another set of cables to verify that.....

Next, IF you have the Standard Yellow-Red-White connections on your DVD,
>>AND<< you were using those BEFORE on your old-time TV.....
You may not have SET the DVD to USE COMPONENT OUTPUT SIGNAL !
That means you need to go into your DVD's menu and select OUTPUT to "Component" or "Y Pr Pb".

It can't work. A Composite AV cable has one coax for video and two stranded pairs for audio.

Component video requires coax for all three video connections.

You're just going to have to go out and buy a proper Component video cable. Wal-Mart sells a 6ft Philips for about $17 that works fairly well, but you'll also have to buy a pair of audio cables, or a complete Component AV cable set that has five lines (three for video and two for audio).
