on 9/11/06 i got a tattoo on my right ankle. im not completley satisfied with it. on some areas u can still see my normal skin show through the ink. i had it touched up a month later, and it dident help. it is outlined in white in someplaces and inside is royal bluiesh and fades to a lighter blue. i think with the time i spend out side, running like every day, swimming, hieking, camping, ect, my tattoo color dosent stand a chance. the area of the tattoo is a little wrinkly, that happens when i get a wound on my legs, and sometimes it takes a long time to go away, is that normal, will it go away? i was thinking about going to a really good tattoo shop to get my tattoo fixed. i thought about dark blue outline with a more navy blue that fades to slightly lighter shade. should i do that? can i do that? if so i will get it done on march 2 when im 18 cuz thats the age limit for the good place. what colors do u recomend, its a pisces symbol.

It's definately important to go to a good tattoo shop. Tattoos are one of the things in life where you definately get what you pay for, and getting this fixed might end up costing you some money. I'm not sure what's going on with your tattoo without a picture. I can tell you that yes, tattoos fade over time, but 5 months seems way too fast. It's hard to say without photos, but if you think it seems like a lot it probably is. As for the colors, they sound good for a pisces tattoo. You can ask the artist whether or not what you picture will work. I hope this helps and good luck with your tattoo!!

"for ever" doesnt mean safe, i know people with shops who have worked for 20 years and i certainly wouldnt go in them. From the sounds of it getting it reworked at the other place might be a good idea. The colours you describe are hard to keep with a lot of sun exposure, which you admit to. Everyone heals differently so as to your "wrinkly skin" if you say you get it frequently and it goes away then i would expect the same for your tattoo healing.

Just a couple of notes on sevens rant: You do not need to banadage a tattoo for 48 to 72 hours (that actually prohibits the healing process by not letting it breathe), overnight is sufficient if you dont want it to stick to your sheets. Its not your fault you didnt know the difference between one shop and another, the op is obviously not a conoisseur so dont bash!! Know what you need to be looking for in the shop before getting a tattoo. Four tattoos does not make you a professional or an expert, it means despite the good advice for healing, you've had a little experience but still could have been doing it wrong the whole time without knowing(not saying you have or anything but the pleading is a little off subject).

BLUE was definitely a good choice for Pisces. But what bothers me here is that the "so-called tattoo artist" you went to; did not know his art. A good artist will correct anything you are not happy with FOR FREE; because of the nature of their art. Which is permanent (for the most part; I speak of the advent of tat removal by laser). U know, I'm just worried that since you did this illegally- that perhaps along with the bad work he did; what if he didn't use sterilized equipment/instruments? I do not say this to get u into a spirit of fear; just thinking perhaps you should just get some bloodwork drawn up to be on the safe side; just to get that reassurrance that you did not contract a disease from the quack that messed up yer tat.
The days of the old stereotype that only sweaty, poor hygienic bikers or musicians are the only ones getting tattoo's are over. While it irritates me that lil' tween-aged girlies are doing this; I still have to advocate what is right. THAT BEING: if you want your tat to heal PROPERLY....you MUST; as with any surgical procedure, allow your body to heal in the time frame that is widely suggested. Do not swim in chlorine-treated waters, do not exercize or take on the mountains for atleast a week and a half, or two. You have to let it heal....do not pick at the scabs, and NEXT TIME.....STAY OUT OF THE SUN. You have to recognize the sun's effects are twice a bad thing for a new tattoo:
a) The sun will cause that new color to FADE prematurely.
b) The sun will cause you to sweat; which in turn will
heighten your chances of infection.

Please heed this advise, and I'm sure many others who are tattoo-wise will give you some good advise. Just recognize please the potential for disease and bad infection.
I had to learn the hard way (on my very first tat), due to a crappy "artist" who did'nt advise me to bandage it for atleast 48-72 hours, nor did he warn me against scratching the itching dang thang..thus picking at the scabs and taking out uneccessary layers of color. So, get informed pls! AND BE SAFE b4 u get a tattoo again!

GOD BLESS YOU,
In Christ, in true concern-

The really wrinkly you speak of could be scarring. First I would have your leg checked by a doctor. You should never go somewhere where they won't ask for ID. Yes it sucks to have to wait but it's better then messing up your body, you could have had a really bad allergic reaction if they were using bad ink, and if they don;t card how do you know they use sterile needles? You could have given yourself AIDS.
I don't know the laws in your state, but where I live you can be underage if accompanied by a parent. In any case, go to a doctor and if everything is fine get it fixed at the legal place.

a note-

just because you have had blood work done in the past (even recent past) it doesn't necessarily mean that you are healthy. normal blood tests dont check for aids of hepatits. FYI.
