First of all as everyone else said, God did not divide humans. Neither did he write vedas. Thousands of years ago, few sages studied the basic huamn nature and defined few set of rules applicable to the mankind. These so called castes are actually trades taht people can indulge into.
1> Brahmins: Intellectual people responsible for guiding people fothe corect path in life and imparting wisdom.
2> Kshatriyas: Physically well built people responsible for protection of the clan.
3> Vaishyas: business minded. taking part in almost all level of tradesmanships.
4> Kshudras: People who are not goal oreinted with quite unsharp minds. These people would earn their livings by doing all kinds of labour jobs.
The division was purely based on the merits, and not birth. Due care was taken that each individual, catagorized under each merit recieved due training for his trade/duty. This catagorization was necessary for proper management of society.
However as time passed by, the ethics were lost. This ahppenned in the period when most of the mankind had started living a nomadic life. Each group would venture on to a different place and refine those ethics in their own ways. As a result, there was no centralised revision over the set of rules. People started dividing the race on basis of birht instead and the parents were supposed to be reponsible for the training of their children in their trades. This was the period when herditary skills came into picture. A child was imposed with those skills even though he was not capable of performing the task efficiently. i.e. a person with incilnation towards engineering was dumped into medical sciences. What we are seeing today is a result of this very confusion that took place a couple of thousand years ago.
If we actually follow ethics of the vedas, we would come to know taht our actual caste is different from the heridetary caste taht we belong to. But sadly even after recovering so much of knowledge from vedas, we are still stuck with the ethics laid by the medieveal era...

Kula and Jathi mean caste. You will not find these words
in the Vedas. Varna came to mean 'caste' in later times.
The original meaning of Varna in the Vedas is Varnana,
description of persons according to their mental attitudes.
Apart from Bhagavad Gita, there are many ancient Gita texts.
Some of them say that a person is born as Sudra (one
without education), and after gaining knowledge
he will become a Vaisya, Kshatriya or Brahmana
depending upon what he is capable of learning.
You can check this with a Sanskrit professor
at a university.
You are a well educated person. You should not believe
in what the less educated say. You should put-in some
effort of your own for knowledge.
Among all countries in the world, India has inherited
the largest number of ancient manuscripts from time
immemorial. They were written on the widest range of
subjects known to humans. Indians were the originators
of all higher knowledge in the ancient times.
With your doubt, you are belittling the wisdom of
Maharshis of the yore.

The caste system, called as Varnashrama Dharma consisiting of four social order, viz., Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras and the four spiritual orders, viz., Brahmachary, Grihastha, Vanaprastha and Sannyasa is very natural in all the society. We find an intelligent class of men(Brahmanas),military people(Kshatriyas), commercial men(Vaishyas) and manual laborers(Shudras). In every country we see these above four kinds of people are present which is natural.
But at the present time the above system(Varnashrama system) which was scientifically based on the quality and work of a person as per the Vedas(veda means knowledge) has become spoiled as caste system in modern times based on one's birth.
For example, if a son of a judge or doctor becomes a judge or doctor judge based only on his being the son of a judge or doctor is not right. But anybody can be a judge or doctor based on his acquiring the quality of the judge or doctor.
Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad gita, chapter 4,text 13,
According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the nondoer, being unchangeable.

I think we evolved and that seems pretty clear and has substantial evidence at this point. I don't think that there had to be a particular reason for humans evolving as we have. I think god is a made up answer that has no real evidence to support it and to me is not particularly logical or helpful. It raises more issues and questions and depending on the claimed attributes for said being seems inconsistent with the evidence and the way things are to me. An even more complex then the universe, sentient super being that itself just always existed or arose uncaused does not seem like a very plausible answer to me at all, particularly as of yet I've heard no good objective evidence that supports such a claim. We actually have evidence for the Big Bang theory. You can check it out. Although our ideas may undergo revision as we learn more. What is not known is what caused the Big Bang. Its just an unanswered question though, not reason without evidence to say a made up answer like god must be logically true. There are naturalistic possibilities that to me seem more parsimonious and plausible.

God Divided us! You must be kidding He has better things to do and anyway, He knows the effort can be saved because we people have the tendency to press the Self Destruct Button :-))
Whether people accept it or not, there are divisions in the society (no amount of intellectualization can wish this fact away). Even the so called Socialists or Communists have a set of people who are First among Equals. If not in the divisions that you mentioned, rich vs poor, north vs south, this language vs that language, intelligent vs dumb - you can think of various divisions. Even the most pseudo socialist parties (ha ha ha, UPA) has its workforce classified as A,B,C,D..... based on their work.
This fact accepted, now what was the purpose of dividing the society using the Varna System (Castes that you have brought out). In the originaal system of practice, you dont belong to a particular caste by birth (like the present day practice). It was purely based on the profession practiced by individuals. In the absence of Engineering colleges, or Mangement Insititutes most of the knowledge or skills were heriditarily handed over to the next generation and that skill remained with this closely knit group. Like in any free enterprise, when someone outside this group picked up the skill, competition began and the group became even more tightly knit and to protect the turf some smart alec thought of assigning varna's as a matter of birthright. This was a prelude to the caste system as we see now. I hope the logic is clear :-)
Please note that most of the Rishis or Scholars of ancient India were not brahmins, they attained the status only by virtue of their practice (sadhana) and abilities and not by birth. So you could belong to any varna based on what you are (in your mind, body and behaviour).

If you observe the western societies work is looked up with respect and a person is separate from his work . To me it was a similar arrangement but it degenerated to the hereditary caste system due to the vested interests of powerful people.even in modern societies workmen are categorised as class A ,B ,C ,D or class 1 ,2, 3 , 4 etc. as per the nature and status of the job.

God has not divided humans in four varnas... who so ever was powerful those days was allotting the casts and privileges to the people inducted in the village headed by him...
it is believed that there were no casts...however there were gotras only in the beginning of civilisation... casts were discovered by the people in majority and power in the villages and were authenticated in books written by them...
centuries ago...say if a family is uprooted from one village to another remote village then the head and the powerful of the village would permit that family by assigning a particular job... this job subsequently became the caste that continued generation after generation...

frst of all the Q is who has written The Vedas.
it's not god who has not written Vedas.
God has made humans & it's human only who has catagorise them according their selfish interest.
it's Human only who differentiate on the basis of caste & creed.
now the Q arises is wt is religion?
frst religion is that we are humans, then wt we are like Brahman or blah bah blah....
had god made anydifference the he may have change the body structure also but frm naked eyes one cant judge who is who.
so my request to all humans in the world is stop beleieving in them who tach such silly things. cox we get ourselves indulge in all these things then we can flourish.
it's God only wid whose blessing we a are living or eating.
Had this be in the hands of humans then godforbid no body in the world have survived.
so beleive in All mighty & dont think foolish.
bye

humans were not divided in bramhan, kshatriya, vasya and sudras
by birth. i repeat one does not become brahmin just being takne birth in brahmins family.
these divisions were made depending on once behaviour / knowledge / occupation.
some people used these divisions for their advantage , hence we hindu brethern are suffering now.
do study vedas and try to understand
