I've worked with a bypass surgeon in the past, and have a few resources from his practice as well as some other web sites.

This is a great resource for general FAQ regarding the bypass, and if you have any interest in the Lap-Band, you can go to http://www.thinnertimes.com/lap-band/faq.html.
There is an online forum at http://www.thinnertimesforum.com , which has some amazingly valuable information, as well as a search-able index.
Another web site that some have found to be helpful is Obesity Help, which you can put into any search engine.
As for one common FAQ that I know from working in the field, only about 1/3 of the patients who get the gastric bypass are able to keep their weight down during the 10 years after the surgery. It requires great determination and support from peers, though is very do-able.

My wife and a good friends of hers had this done. Drop her a line at jjtheba1203@aol.com. she can direct you to some web sites and also she will be able to answer questions if you need her to. She and my wife went throught the Ohio State University hospital program. It was really helpful with a lot of information and support group meetings. These meeting were very helpful
