I have no idea, but I think it should be the other way around. The molester/rapist should get jail time, not the family member. Actually, if it were up to me, I'd cut off their dick first and then give them jail time!
Sorry if I sound like a b i t c h, but I was molested as a child by my grandfather. I had to live with that night my whole life. I have kids now and I am still living with it. Til the day I die I will never be the same after what he did to me. But the bastard was selfish enough to ask me if I forgive him when he was on his death bed. SORRY! No can do. Hope he likes it down there in hell.

The judicial system doesn't take into account the effects this crime has on children throughout life so it isn't seen in the same light as murder...but if I was to kill my son's hypothetical predator I would plead momentary insanity and get a lighter sentence and be glad that I saved other children from that predator. The system sucks and not just in Vermont!

becuase murder is murder. what's the differance if you murder your friend beucase he killed your dad (who happened to be in the mob) or if you murder a guy becuase he is a "predator"? none. the both of them are revenge. actually the man who killed the guy who killed his dad was more right i guess, becuase would you rahter be raped or killed? so then eliminating the guy who would kill you would be better than eliminating the guy who would rape you wouldn't it? anyway. murder is murder.
ok the second child-molesters dont only get probation. they get jail time. pleanty of it. and in CA they get to wear a ancle braclet for the rest of their lives after they get out of jail that tracks their every move. and alerts someone every time they get close to a park or a school.

yes it is disgusting, and very sad that is the way society has become. the only thing good to help us to be aware if one is living close to you , so you can protect your children is the Megan's law. but even still some avoid reporting or on the run, so i guess only thing we can do to try and correct this, is to make sure we vote when there are issues that concern us and we believe in strongly like this and to live our lives as if one lives next door always, so we protect our children in case there in danger anywhere they will know what to do and how to handle any situation.

i think that any one that does that to any child or any lady or boy they deserve to rote in jail and hope that it gets done to them if someone hurt my kids i would kill them and i would be happy to go to jail cause i know that i got them and they Carnot do it to any one else it makes you sick to know there are even people like that

the justice system is messed up....the same can be asked for why do people get more time for felony drug charges than murder. the justice system seriously needs to be re-evaluated.
