It wasn't a video camera, it was a film camera. The easiest place to find it would probably be eBay, or you might know some people that grew up in the '70s and '80s and they'll have one as well. You'll want to look for super-8 cameras and film, as 16mm can get pretty expensive. Here's a website that has lots of info about 8mm and 16mm film. You most likely won't be able to get film from a store, but Kodak's website still sells it.

It's all going to get expensive pretty fast, so consider what you want or need to shoot before getting film. Also, you will need a projector (fairly cheap) or a telecine transfer (expensive) to watch your movie. And depending on the camera, it most likely won't record sound. But I'm very interested in little film as well, so if you get this to work, please tell me how it went! Hope this helps!

she needs a dslr and a tilt and shift lens to prevent converging verticals plus a wide angle lens and mid telephoto to pick out detail, how easy to use is down to her capabilities
