The ringbearer could do 1 of 2 things ... he could either carry an empty pillow, which is what many couples choose, and the best man can carry the actual rings OR the little guy could actually carry the rings.
I have seen both done and either would be a fabulous idea. If you're going to let him carry the rings, then they wouldn't be put on the pillow until the last minute ... usually his parents carry the pillow until his walk down the aisle, so there is no way for something to happen to the rings.
The knot is also usually tied very secure so I wouldn't be concerned about the rings falling or something coming off ...

Well, I don't see much point in having a ring bearer if he is only going to carry fake rings! The pillow should have the rings tied on it. Some responsible adult should be in charge of the pillow until the boy walks down the aisle.
Best wishes!

Ring bearer carries the pillow with fake rings tied on. The best man carries the real rings in his pocket. At the recessional, the ring bearer flips his pillow over so no one sees the fake rings still tied to it. Bridesmaids usually do not carry the rings, formal dresses usually have no pockets!

Don't trust a child with anything valuable, they can carry it on the pillow but make sure to give them the pillow right before they walk down the aisle and TIE them to the pillow. Maybe you can forget the ring bearer idea and just have an older person carry the rings....good luck and congratulations!!!!

You can get fake rings at any craft store to put on the Ring Bearer's pillow. In ultra-formal weddings the real rings are usually tied to the pillow, but I wouldn't do it in that case either. But then, I can only give advice to a couple.
The B/M can carry both rings in his pocket, not a ring pouch, or the MoH & B/M can each carry a ring. The B/M should wear your's on his pinky & the MoH wear the groom's on her middle finger or thumb. Statistics show that MoH's lose 80% of the wedding rings.
Don't plan on the rings fitting. When you get nervous hands swell. Have the groom slide the ring to the largest knucke & then you can push it the rest of the way. Don't wear lotion either.

The ring bearer carries them on a pillow. If the bridesmaid or best man has them then there isn't really a need for a ring bearer.

We got married this past summer and my mother made the pillow and sewed fake silver rings to the pillow. We had the best man hold both rings. Do not give the rings to the ringbearer!

You should give the rings to the best man, and the maid of honour......sometimes ring bearers tend to throw the pilllows around, and if your rings are ttached to that pillow, they may get lost. go to the dollar store and get the fake rings, and attach them to the pillow. This will make it look like the ring bearer is carrying rings, and will make him feel a little more imprtant about his job in the wedding

How old is your ring bearer? Do you trust him to carry the rings?
When I got married, my oldest ring bearer was three. There was no way on earth I was letting him carry our rings down the aisle. Our best man held both of them for us.
There's no hard & fast rule about this - just go with what you are comfortable with!!!
Best of luck to you!
