Yes, it is possible to be both.

Anorexics eat very little to be as thin as possible. Bulimics eat and then purge their food so they will not gain weight.

So it is very possible for an anorexic to eat a larger meal than normal (probably to keep people from finding out they are anorexic in the first place) and then go purge the meal.

I can completely answer this question: I am a nineteen year old female and have been vomitting ever since I was 6. Now this behavior is known as bulimic behavior. On occasion, I would binge on foods I believed were "safe binge foods" if I ever did feel this insatiable need to binge. Then I would follow this with a purge. However most of the time I would maintain a calorie level of 330 or less (this means I would still eat but it could not contain anymore than .5 grams of fat, 0 grams of saturated , etc) well I thought: "I am still not anorexic because I eat." Well I dropped to 83lbs (I am 5.5) and was eating now only 80 calories a day, I thought that meant I was fine, because I ate those 2 small kiwis or a serving of corn a day. I ended up in the hospital: "anorexic, with bulimic tendancies" this meant I acted upon bulimia but was severly underweight and was starving. So yes...in other words...yes. Most of the time the two behaviors may take place, however the girl will maintain a pretty average weight (fast, binge, purge, exercise purge) this is called: E.D.N.O.S.=Eating Disorder Non Other Specified in some areas and Bulimarexia in others, so once again: YES.

It is possible to be anorexic and bulimic. Anorectics do eat, just very, very, very, very little... just enough to sustain existence. Yet for some, it comes to a point where their body and mind can no longer tolerate the starvation and the eating disordered person, already obsessed with food, ends up binging (usually on very unhealthy foods) and then shame and guilt hit them and they purge all the food and feelings to feel a sense of relief. problem is... the "relief" doesn't last long. They may promise themselves they will never do that again and go back to restricting as an anorectic... though once they have binged and purged, it is more likely that it can happen again. Our bodies know what we need, and will fight our minds to get what it needs. I hope I have been of some help.

Many people will go for long periods of time without eating anything, only to have a major binge-purge session. These people are sometimes referred to as having Anorexia-Bulimia. Bulimics purge on a regular basis. Also I think you should remember that excessive exercise is a trait of bulimia too, and while many anorexics don't purge many will compulsively exercise after eating anything.

It can happen at the same time .I have the second type . I have eating disorder . I mean bulimic one . And when I start to eat I can not stop it . But I am not trying to lose them by heavy exercises . I hope I can find a solution for my disorder . My stomach got bigger and I can not fit into my trousers. As a coincidence I was reading about that aoxeric disorder and while I was reading that scientific writing I learned that they can happen at the same time . I found it illogical at first like you but after reading the whole article I got what they mean . It was in Turkish . But you can find some English articles about it .

Why bother?

Eat only when hungry. Eat not more than three times a day unless u r diabetic. Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

Yes the literal definition of anorexia nervousa is to be afraid o gaining weight
bulimia is where a person binge eats (eats a sufficient amount of food in a small mount of time) then purges (causes oneself to throw up usually by shoving their finger in their mouth grabbing their uvula several times)
so yes it is possible and commonly people (usually is girls but it may also be boys too) to be both at once or to flip back and forth from one to the other

you're wrong. anorexic just means you are obsessed about your weight and you always think you're fat so you keep losing weight till its very unhealthy. That either means not eating or being bulimic.

I think so....anorexic people still eat a little but not enough. Otherwise they'll be dead in no time.
