No, they couldnt have been. Because, Jesus did not raise His friend Lazerus from the dead until the very end of His ministry. But I do think its possible that the one in the parable might have been a real person and not just a story. Because it is the only time that Jesus used a "proper" name in a parable. Also, imagine the impact if Jesus had told the "parable" about someone they all knew, and especially if there really had been a "rich" man that had just died, with that many brothers. It would certainly have left a big impression. And as a warning it undoubtedly have been very powerful....theBerean

I've always found it interesting that Luke's story of the fictional Lazarus ends with the warning that no one will believe the truth "even if one were to rise from the dead." Then John's gospel tells the story of a real Lazarus who did just that. One is real, one is a parable, and both stories have different messages, yet still, I wonder what was going through John's mind as he wrote that account.

I don't think it was the same person. Jesus appears to be telling a parable and I think the people are fictitious. The Lazarus whom Jesus resurrected was never described as a poor man.

Maybe Lazarus did talk about heaven afterward. We are not told much about what Lazarus did later, only that Jesus brought him back to life.

No the first Lazarus in the parable died before the first appearance of Jesus Christ. The second Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the dead I believe died after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The first one was a beggar the other was not.
