Get a whistle and blow it really hard in the phone and they wont be calling anymore. it ruins their ears for about two weeks if not more.
monitor your calls.

You are not dying. No one can hurt you over the phone. It does sound as if you are being harrassed though. Instead of just calling the police, go down during business hours and see about getting a trap put on your phone. This isn't the same as a tap. No one will listen to your calls. This way the police will be able to catch who is calling you and not saying anything.
If you live alone and are scared, why don't you ask a friend to stay with you for a few days. You will feel more comfortable that way.
Good luck to you.

I like that persons idea about blowing the whistle reallly hard into the phone, but also you could just either get a phone with caller ID so you can screen your calls or an answering machine so when its someone you know quickly pick up, once they cant get through to you after a while they'll stop it or maybe its time to move or very very simply change your number (and make it a private one)

Ok, you may be having an axiety attack. It feels like you're dying. Is there someone you can call? If you feel threatened and need to get out of there, you can always call an ambulance and they will take you to the hospital and deal with whatever is going on, but it may cost you.
If the police 911 won't help you, call the regular police headquarters and ask to speak to an officer or a supervisor. They should not ignore your calls. They can also trace a call if needed, or they can review the phone logs and see who is calling you.

Get the telephone company to trace the calls to find out who keeps calling and hanging up. Talk to a friend or someone who can help you figure out who could be doing this. You shouldn't have to live your life in fear. Change your phone number. If this doesn't help, a change of location may be the answer.
If you still feel you are in danger, call and talk with the county sheriff.

I've had this happen many times. Best to just hang up right away. Don't say nothing to them. If you answer them back or show that you're scared they'll just keep calling back. Unfortunately that's how some people get their laughs. Also, you can change your phone number, unlisted. Only give your knew number to those you really want to have it and can truly trust.

Why not go spend a few nights at a friends house. You could buy a whistle and blow it into the phone when they call. answer it on the first ring, surprise them. Have a friend over. Dont be scared, fight the clowns.

It sounds like the case of the stalkee. Mate you are being stalked, congrats. My suggestions: a) change your phone number or b) move to a different house/city/state/country. Yup!
