the other night i was at my boyfriends place and fell asleep early because i was so tired. but there was something wrong with him and he couldn't sleep. he kept thrashing around the room and thinking he needed to do things, like walk down the street to this park. it was really weird and he also wrote down a bunch of strange things. then he'd wake me up and say i looked like something else, like some kind of an animal.

he has a cold, so maybe it was just a fever? but i didn't think just a fever would make you do impulsive things or feel like you had to. i know his mom is bi-polar, so maybe it runs in the family? and it was an episode outbreak? i don't know if that is what happens.

he also smoked pot that night, but a while beforehand. and it has never done that to him before. he does take adderall without a perscription and sometimes sleeping pills. would a combination of those drugs make someone crazy? or is something actually wrong?

Some times pot is lased with LSD and that would cause those symptoms

The thing to look for is those things happening when he is not high

Some people with bipolar use drugs and drink to either hide the symptoms or to try to treat them themselves

Studies show that bipolar disorder can be past for mother to son and father to daughter

But just because a parent is bipolar does not mean their children will be but it could be passed to the grand children or farther down the line or to no one at all

It could be just the pot or a combination of the sleeping pills and the other medication. He shouldn't be taking all these at the same time. He could accidentally overmedicate himself and die. He shouldn't be taking a medication without a prescription. Also, smoking pot is illegal. He needs to get professional help and he needs to be honest with the doctor. If you really care for this guy, you will insist that he get help and see that he keeps his appointment with the doctor. If he refuses to get help, he could die. There have been numerous celebrities that have died from a combination of drugs, sleeping pills, pot, etc. Talk to someone about it and do an intervention if you have to. If he refuses to get help, refuse to see him until he does. You might be saving his life. God bless.

It could be either the drugs or a combination of the drugs and a predisposition to mental illness. I know you probably want to stand by him and help him, but I would not stay around if he acts like that. He needs to stop the drugs now. Tell him if he does not stop immediately that you are out of his life. This is for your own safety.

Check out ww.nami.org and there's all sort of info on bipolar.

How it may run in families.

How some people self medicate w/drugs & alcohol before a diagnosis. etc.

good luck. I just encourage you to educate yourself because if you are planning on being his friend for a long time this kind of things/scenes will show up again.

Sounds like the combination of things did him in. You can't be sure about the bi-polar thing until you observe him without all the drugs, though.
