Muscles can have knots (trigger points) that make them tight which in turn put pressure on nerves and other things causing pain.
Molasses - a couple of swigs or Bananas 1 or 2 - both contain magnesium and potassium for muscles.
Try working with the principles taught in The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
I use a chiropractor and massage therapist with it

Well, I dont know how to prevent them but a fast way to get rid of them when You have them is to lay on your bed and bring a bottle with you. Then slowly drink out of the bottle..... not a lot at a time but just slowly drink untile you drank about half the bottle... This is what i usually do when I have period cramps.... It works well for me... It can be water or orange juice. It doesnt really matter what kind you drink as long as you drink something.. It works really well.....

Muscle spasms often associated with potassium depletion.
To prevent, drink lots of orange juice.
To stop, stretch affected limb fully and massage.
The qiuckest way to infuse potassium into your system is to drink pickle juice.
Yuck, I know.
But short of intervenious potassium infusion, it's the quickest way.
