I ran into an article that said that 70% of women who knew they were going to have a certain gender (not just want a boy or girl) had the gender they knew they were having. I was wondering how many of you knew the gender of your child before finding out. I was just wondering because I want a girl desperately, but I know it's going to be a boy. I was just curious to know what the outcomes were.

Yes, I did. I had my son before they started routinely doing ultra sounds. He is 26 years old. From the minute I found out that I was pregnant we started calling him Nathaniel. I never said the baby, I always said Nathaniel. I never gave it a second thought.

I never even really thought, what if it's not a boy. I just somehow knew. I would've been so disappointed if he had been a girl.

I also never had an ultra sound with my daughter who will be turning 24 in a few weeks. I didn't name her until I seen her after she was born, but all I had in my mind was girls names.

24 hours before she was born, they were checking me and they asked if I wanted a girl or boy. I said a girl. The nurse told me that listening to the heartbeat is sounded like a girl, but they weren't positive.

Sure enough, she was born March 4, 1983 my perfect little girl. I always believed that she was a girl, but not as positive as my first one that was a boy.

It's kinda nice you know definitely now, but back then wondering was kinda nice too. Especially when you were right.

Yes ma'am I did. I knew with both. I knew I was having a boy the first time even though I wanted a girl, then the ultra sound confirmed it. And when I was pregnant with my daughter, I knew it, even when they did the ultra sound the couldnt tell, but i just knew, and well now my son will be 11 this year and my daughter will be 10. Some women just know, but I think its safe to say that with our natural instincts, we are all blessed in diffrent areas. so just keep that in mind, and I hope you dreams come true, and wether it be a Boy or a Girl, I wish you all the best and may you baby be happy and healthy!!!

There's this belief from where I come from.
If the mother dresses nicely and looks pretty most of the time it means she's having a girl. But if the mother is reluctant to wear make-up and dresses casually (doesn't try to look nice), there's a big chance it's a boy.

Another belief: you shouldn't be wishing for any specific gender, cause it effects the growth of the baby. Say, you are wishing for a girl, while inside your womb a baby boy is being formed, he might grow to be transgenderred.

So please just be patient and take care of yourself and the baby.

A healthy baby is all that matters.

Great Question!

Oh, I wanted a girl, but I sided with my husband who wanted a son for our first....and as it turned out.....only.

Interesting to note....two years before I met my husband, which was still two years before I had my son, a psychic reader told me that I would have a son with, "long fingers and long toes".

When the nurse handed me my son after birth she told me, "I have never seen a baby with such long fingers and toes!"

No, other than the psychic....I never knew or possibly guessed what I was going to have....and the sonogram was inconclusive.

All the women told me they "knew" because of the way I carried the baby....they all said that I was going to have a girl. I never had morning sickness and all of the women claimed that no morning sickness was another sign of a female baby. Nope, it was a boy.

The most interesting thing......A few men guessed and they were right! One man said that I had a very peaceful look on my face and that was the sign of a boy. Another man said that my husband had a very masculine tough-looking face with a square jaw line and the way my husband looked was the sign of a boy!

Have fun and relax.

No. The doctor told me I was having a boy. Everytime I went for a visit and had a sonogram, he'd say, "See the penis"? I'd say yes, but I didn't see anything.

I had a several baby showers. Everything was "blue".

I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl. She'll be 16 in September.

P.S. She wore all the blue gifts. And a Great Big Pink Ribbon.

With my own children, not really. I could not tell anything with my first, I suspected my second was a boy, and I knew my third was a girl.

What I could do, for years, was "know" what others were having. I could always do it if I did not know what they wanted. If I knew what they wanted, it was much harder.
What It was is that I could picture the baby in the mom's arms, and then I just knew. I can't do it anymore :-(

I was told at the ultrasound that I was having a girl (they were 99% sure). Except through out my pregnancy, in all my dreams, the baby was a boy.

In the end it turned out to b a boy - so I guess my body knew better than the doctors.

To a certain extinct, yes, I believe the Mothering instincts begin to kick in. The way I was shaped, Mom went on and on about how I was haing a little boy. 'THAT' just didn't feel right. I continually said to her (I found out I was pg on 12 -23 87) no, this is a girl...I 'feel' it in my spirit. Several moths later my husband and I haad our first 'peeping' show-if you will. I had a girl! Blonde hair and sky-blue eyes, just the order I put in for!

The doctor kept telling my mom I was going to be a boy, but she said she knew deep down she was having a girl so she bought all girl clothes, and sure enough she was right and the doctors were wrong.

I have 3 boys and knew that 2 of them were boys. My 3rd baby I thought was a girl, and I was a little bit shocked but glad when they said he was a boy.
