For years I've noticed the world becoming more and more religious/spiritual, favoring Christianity. But since the last election, I've noticed more and more atheists and agnostics coming out of the woodwork.
Has the tide changed? Are people fed up with born again Christianity?

When you speak of the 'world' I assume you mean the USA?
There's 300m people in the USA and 6 billion people elsewhere. So lets get that straight first.

Generally, the USA is highly 'christianised' whereas Europe is becoming more secular. Africa and Asia (outside of China) are religious also (Islam, Christianity, Hinduism).

The Japanese, Chinese, Thais and some other states veer more towards Buddhism, Taoism and to a lesser extent Daoism.

Anyway, if you are refering only to the USA, then thank the lord it is becoming (if it is?) more secular!!

You are right. Secularism is on the rise. Our civilization is more materialistic and hedonistic than ever. That's why I believe the Lord will return soon. When the apostasy becomes a major influence in our world and the Church looks down and out we can expect the appearance of the anti-Christ. This was prophesied in the Bible (2 Thessalonians 2,3).
Peace and every blessing!

I think that Bush just makes them nervous. I'm a Christian and he makes me nervous. I think they are just stirred up right now, and they will go back into the woodwork after Bush is gone. You might just notice them more because they are overly represented on this site. You get a lot of the crazy europeans on here too, they are already gone. One step from complete socialism.

People always speak up most when they are dissatisfied with the president. Christians are very vocal since Clinton was in office. Atheists and agnostics were happy with him, as were most liberals. Now the shoe is in the other mouth... I mean, on the other foot.

Those that are religious are tending to kick their beliefs up a notch (not to mention the new ways of communicating their faith), while the rate of people becoming secular is gradually rising (giving them more reason to speak up).

So they're both on the rise.

Your experience is based on a limited perspective. Secularism has been and will continue to increase until the coming of the Lord.

When Bush claims he talks to God, that's enough to make anybody have doubts in God.
