prayer is a verbal communiction from the believer to God. The purpose of prayer is to express, your thoughts, ideas, needs, and feelings to God, so He can in turn respond to you. Where there is prayer there is always a response from God. It can be quick or take a long time. But overall, prayer is a intimate communiction just like between a husband and wife.

In prayer, you are seeking connection with the Divine, however you may choose to view It. Most prayer has three parts.
1. Adoration. Compliment the god or goddess on his or her best traits. Tell It what you admire about it and how the things that are a part of It's being bring joy to you.
2. Petition. Make a reasonable request, if you want.
3. Thanksgiving. Thank the Divine, or being, for listening to you, for helping you in the past, and thank It in advance for helping you in the future.
Prayer is also like a form of magick. You have a result pictured in your mind or heart, you raise energy, emotion, intent, and/or the need, you direct that power into the desired result and you release it.

PRAYER
Ro 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ro 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
1Pe 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
God has guaranteed to hear the prayers of those who are His own. He has not guaranteed to hear the prayers of those who are not His own. The only prayer that a sinner can pray is, “Lord, I admit that I am a sinner, and accept Jesus Christ as my Savior, and ask that You accept me in Him.” That is a prayer that God will hear and that God will answer. Many people today have the idea that an old reprobate can live any kind of life he wants and then come to God in prayer when he is in trouble and expect God to hear and answer him. As the movies and the novels tell it, the old reprobate comes home to find his little girl sick in the hospital, and so he gets down on his knees and calls upon God to raise her up. How sentimental that is! May I say this very plainly: it is nonsense, and it is absolutely unscriptural. Let that old reprobate get right with God, and then God will hear and answer his prayer. It is a false idea today to think that you can call on God under any circumstances whether or not you are His child. My friend, He has not promised to hear the prayers of those who are not His own.

Prayer
Is converse with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to him. Prayer may be oral or mental, occasional or constant, ejaculatory or formal.

Nothing. It has no effect and all it does is try to talk to someone who isn't there. It's no better than calling a phone number that doesn't exist.

Listening to God. If you do not hear from him you are talking to yourself.
