You're scared and nervous around one another because you like each other. Don't worry about trying to get him to ask you out. If you both like one another like you say you do things will happen naturally.

When I was about 16 I had a boyfriend, I loved him very much and he loved me even more. We dated for a long time. As much as I loved him there was always something missing. He was a great guy so it was not him. I finally realized I was just not ready to be in a committed relationship before I had a chance to live. So I broke up with him. We are still and always will be friends. But we are more like brother and sister and would do anything for each other. You have not had much experience, maybe that is part of the problem. You need to take some time and figure out what you need and how to help him fulfill those needs. Because if you are not happy then he won't be either.

Well, you shouldn't rush things, and try to get him to ask you out. Maybe the two of you aren't ready to date yet, or maybe he's just not ready. Just talk to him when you see eachother, and once he's ready to ask you out, then he will. Be patient with him. I also think that maybe he's afraid that you don't like him anymore, so talk to him often and once in a while, say things like "we should hang out sometime", but don't ask him just yet. Wait until he's more confident about the relationship.

Maybe you both scared/nervous around eachother because you guys aren't ready to be in a relationship? .. Be friends first, and if that goes well, be closer friends, and then when you both are ready, go out with eachother.

He is obviously shy. He is worried a bout the thing that everyone worries about in a relationship; rejection.

You can't force him to ask you out. The only thing you can do is wait, and take the risk that he loses interest in you or ask him out yourself. It's not uncommon anymore for a gril to ask a guy out now.

I sincerely wish you good luck!

Why should he been the one who has to ask you out? Go for it, ask him out. Maybe he is just a little more shy than you. Once you get this big step out of the way, it will probably ease the tension.
