I assume you're using MP3's. I recently used a BPM analyzer to scan my mp3 library find out what the beats per minute were for the song. There a couple of songs that I was randomly listening to that I already liked that happened to be the same beat as my running pace (UB40-Bring me your cup, Beck-Girl, Creed-What if, Matchbox twenty-Last Beatiful Girl, and Lenny Kravitz-Let Love Rule) By using the analyzer, I found out those songs were about 150 bpm (give or take). When I looked for other songs around that range, I found several Jay-Z songs, Hypnotize by System of a Down, Lil Jon' - Stop F*** with me, and several other songs betwen 148 and 160 bpm that I ran too. They were great for setting my pace in runs 10k or less. Anything longer than that there's really no use to sync your music with your run. You just need to find music that you really like. If you don't care about syncing your pace, I recently added Such Great Heights by the Postal Service (??) #41 by Dave Matthews Band.

The best kind of running music is something that is fasted paced. When you run and listen to something that is moving right along it helps your stride and legs to move at a faster rate. Also you do not get as tired as quickly because your focus is on the beat of the music. Songs by Panic at the Disco, The Fray are some I use specifically for running along with some others. But really any song you like that has a fast beat will do. Good Luck.

yes! i couldnt do it with out music. u really gotta get into it tho. i run five miles everyday and more sometimes, i prefer rock music when im running cuz it gets me really pumped. and i do tend to match the beat with my strides a little but its never a problem, search workout on itunes and it will give u great different running playlists depending on ur taste in music. music it makes it SO much more interesting, especially if ur a musical person. it just relieves all my stress and i dont think about anything else except getting into the song

Go to websites for Free Music....some of them you pay a small fee and download all of the music you want (even movies). Also some you can find suggestions for the best song for running.
