Vista:
Pros:
1. looks cool
2. has some little features here and there but nothin that big
Cons:
1. Brand new layout you have to learn
2. Resource hog and it has a ton of bugs
3. Very little support of software

XP:
Pros:
1. its seasoned so most bugs are all worked out
2. more driver/software/hardware support
Cons:
1. Its made by microsoft, lol
2. cant think of anything compared to vista

One is newer and not have all the bugs fixed. One is older and have SP upgrades for better security.
Vista does have a few cool things. It can use a Jump Drive for virtual memory, instead of the HDD, if, that really anything. I would wait until this summer and then see what "Really Going On" before I would buy.
The links are PC world, maybe they not get paid, but, you can read some stuff and learn.

Vista new system with bugs! XP - older seasoned system that is crash free at this time.. Wait for a while before putting Vista on your system..

Vista has DRM infection built in at a fundamental level.
