Im actually getting into pre-med for med school and I dont know what other major or minor I should take in language. I am a native French speaker and speak French at home with my parents. At school I passed the AP French language with a 4. The problems in french is that my grammar is not so good and I would it to improve as well with writing. On the other hand I started learning Spanish in high school and I like it a lot. I actually passed the AP Spanish language test with a 3 and I am doing good. So next year when I go to UCLA I will major in Molecular Biology. Now should I double major or just 1 minor? what do you think? I know Spanish is important in the US but outside it isnt. I am assuming i should do a minor in Spanish since its not important. But on the other hand I can do a double major in French and it will be somewhat easy A i guess. Plus it looks good for emd school.

Spanish is useful, really useful. Outside the U.S. there is always Spain, and a lot of South America. It depends where you're going to live. In some place like Lousiana where French is used a lot, I suggest French, all the way, but it might be good to major in French and Minor in Spanish. If for any reason you decide to do something different, Spanish could be useful in the business world, since S. America is pretty third world and are barely getting much technology, they need business people to sell them some. I suggest you major in French, and Minor in Spanish.

Well, I'm studying a major in Spanish with a minor in French + an Associates degree on Spanish Translation... so I'm studying 3 specializations.. ;-) . Take the one u feel more comfortable with. Or u may take the three at the same time, but modify and add another study plan

Spanish is not only important in the U.S. but in Central America, South America, Europe, and other parts of the world. Spanish is more widely spoken than French, so I'd probably suggest taking Spanish as the major. It's fantastic you can get an easy A in French but what's the point if its not going to be as useful as knowing Spanish?

Escucha Botto, listen buddy. You are telling me that Spanish is not important. I do not see too many French in the united states. But if you are living in the united states i think that you should know that 90% of the hispanics are illegal and do not speak english at all. There are well over a million Spanish immigrants here and I am taking advantage of learning the language and you should too. Think about it. Cuidadte.

It depends where you live! If you live in the Northeast U.S. near Canada you should definitely major in French! People always say Spanish is most useful in the U.S. but that is so untrue for our region! There are many more French Canadian people here.
