Has anyone had the 2001 RWT Shiraz recently? I was thinking of serving this for an upcoming dinner but I'm wondering if it may be closed up in a "dumb phase" at the moment.

I'm located in Alberta, Canada. I already have the wine. I'm just trying to decide whether it's too early to serve.

I know that my wine vendor here in Texas has it on hand (or at least the last I talked to him about it). I'm sure its still available as I was able to acquire several bottles of Penfolds Grange Shiraz 1999 (which is quite a rarity indeed) for my shop recently. Out of curiousity, where are you located?

**Oh I see! I'm sorry. I should have read the question more carefully! I wouldn't really pop the cork just yet. About a year ago I remember that one of my wine merchandisers were saying that they tasted it and it was still immature. It was a very tight wine when they tried it. I would really give the bottle another year or two to be towards its peak. I wish I still had my subscription to Wine Spectator to see their take on the subject.
