Wow! That is one I haven't heard of before. I would guess that because the battery is encased very well, that even the dog's stomach acid wouldn't be able to get the battery to expose its acid - but I am not sure. Look in the phone book and call the 24 hour animal hospital - usually they will give you an honest answer.
There is also a pet poison control number you can call - but they charge quite a bit to simply hear your question. "Aspca Animal Poison Control Center Hotline As the premier animal poison control center in North America, the APCC is your best resource for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, make the call that can make all the difference: (888) 426-4435. A $55 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card. " website: http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pro_apcc&JServSessionIdr001=xlq1ksko81.app28b
I would start with the local 24 animal hospital - that call is free, and you may get "should be okay" from them.
Good luck - let us know what happens.

Batteries contain acids and other toxic metals, get ur dogs to a vet now. If u love ur dogs as u say get them to an emergency animal hospital, don`t wait for symptoms, or it could be too late.

It can cause serious problems from the battery acids and possible obstructions. Call or take them to a vet ASAP.
