I've been needing to get into shape, and tune up my body. I'm finally taking initiative and getting it done. I just don't know of any good exercises to perform at home. I don't have the money to get a gym membership. I'd prefer to just tone my body, not build bulky muscle. I have 2 10lb iron weights, and that's about it for equipment. Any know of any good exercises? :(

Jumping rope. Is a great all around exercise. Is inexpensive. Around $3 for the rope.

Start off slow and steady if its been a long time since you lifted weights.
Do you have a bench press or any bars?If not not thats ok you dont need em to get back into shape and tone up.
Heres a routine for you if choose to do one.

1. Push ups Flat and Declines 3 sets of how ever many you can do each set.Advance is the same but put some weight on your back.

2. Weighted jump squats.Start out standing then squat down and jump as high as you can. 3 sets of how ever many you can do each set.

3. Bench dips. No bench then get two chairs.Put your hands on the edge of one chair and your feet on the edge of the other.Lower butt to about 6in to the ground then push yourself back up without locking ur arms at the top.3 sets of how ever many you can do each set.

4.Curls: Choose a weight you can at least do 3sets of 10-15 with.

5. Pull ups. 3 sets of how ever many you can do each set.

6.Sit ups.Weight decline, and weighted twisting sit ups should do fine.3 sets of how ever many you can do each set.

Do this at least 3x a week.Find time for cardio as well , Jogging , jumping rope, bicycling, swimming. Do your cardio on days you dont do the others at least 2x a week for 20mins.

Heres some links you can check out for some more ideas.

This may sound corny, and I don't usually fall for infomercials, but I bought "the bean." I have been an avid exerciser for over 10 years, and about 20 minutes on the bean every day has helped my body to tone up. You can do pilates, stretching, abdominal conditioning, arm and leg conditioning, etc. It is great because you can do it while you are watching TV, and you don't realize how much you are working out your abs, especially. Check out the link, but you don't HAVE to order it online or through a "special TV offer." I bought mine from CVS pharmacy. www.beandirect.com

Do you have digital cable tv? Go "On Demand" and go to the fitness channels. There are TONS of free half hour programs that you can do aerobic/cardio-type exercises to in the privacy of your own living room :-)

Buy a jumprope and an exercise ball. They're both totally cheap and you can get a ton of exercise in by using both.

Here are some samples.

Also, Self Magazine always has great at-home work outs.

Good luck!

okay so basically for the stomach to work your upper mucles do crunches w/ the weights held on your chest, for lower abdomanal mucles do leg lifts: lay flat on ground than put hands under lower back keeping flat on the ground than lift up your feet 6in.-1ft above the ground and hold it for 30 sec. repeat

you could walk, do lunges, and lift the weights straight up in the air and this is good for your arms.
