i have an 86 mustang and the headlight switch went bad i can get a 88 headlight switch for free will it work corectly i would like to know before i drive 30miles to pick it up

Yes it will work 86-91 interchangeable i would change it on the spot if i was you to make sure it works

NO! The headlight switch changed in 1987 along with the entire dashboard. The earlier (79-86) fox Mustangs have a pull-switch on the dash with a knob that plugs into it, and the later (87-93) fox Mustangs had a flap-switch on the side of the instrument cluster. I have owned an 80, an 83 and an 87.

unfortunately no. The 86 takes the misw 2105 switch while the 88 takes a misw 5196. You can verify this at the sute below
