To begin with, you should be of legal adult age. To many underage kids do it because it's 'cool'.

Secondly, there are a lot of ignorant, badly researched answers here. SMOKING MARIJUANA CANNOT KILL YOU. It has never killed anyone. It is simply not toxic enough. Unlike let's say...alcohol.

I smoke weed occasionally, as a means to relax, relieve stress. I am a successful person, who conrtibutes positively to their environment. I don't hurt anyone when I smoke weed, I don't do anything irresponsible. I am not a 'loser'. The real losers are the ones quick to judge, only because they have been trained to be fearful of the unknown.

Like anything, you can overdo it. Smoke too much, and chances are you will get a little lazy. Moderation and responsibility is the key.

Everyone keeps saying 'It's legal for a reason'. Really? What are those reasons? And why are any of the reasons different from alcohol?

Actually, if you haven't tried it I wouldn't start. Yes, I've tried it and I'm not saying that I ever had a moment of euphoria when I did smoke, BUT it's a costly habit like any drug or alcohol. You're gonna feel hungry as hell, paranoid, silly, and sleepy, and very lazy. But don't go there though because if you're looking for a job it stays in your system for 3 months. And health wise, it's healthier than alcohol and ciggs, but remember,IT'S ILLEGAL!!! So I'm not advising or advocating anyone to do anything illegal on here, so say no to mary jane, please.Don't just take a drug because you heard some things about it. I heard a few things about coke and crack, but I'm not gonna snort it or smoke it just because I wanna know how it feels. You need to consider the consequences of it and will you feel okay with that being in your system for 3mos after a 3 minute smoke session.

The short-term effects of marijuana include:
- problems with memory and learning;
- distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch);
- trouble with thinking and problemsolving;
- loss of motor coordination; and
- increased heart rate.

Some of the long-term effects of marijuana use are:
Findings so far show that regular use of marijuana or THC may play a role in some kinds of cancer and in problems with the respiratory and immune systems.

Cancer
It’s hard to know for sure whether regular marijuana use causes cancer. But it is known that marijuana contains some of the same, and sometimes even more, of the cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per day may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day (15) .

Lungs and airways
People who smoke marijuana often develop the same kinds of breathing problems that cigarette smokers have: coughing and wheezing. They tend to have more chest colds than nonusers. They are also at greater risk of getting lung infections like pneumonia.

Immune system
Animal studies have found that THC can damage the cells and tissues in the body that help protect against disease. When the immune cells are weakened you are more likely to get sick.

After you get legal, then go for it.

I have never done this for entertainment use as it sounds like you are wanting to do. So in this aspect I can not tell you what it is like.

I am very insulted at the ignorance on your answers up there. I am no way a looser or anything else. I am a hurting and tried EVERY kind of medication out there before I finally told them to quit using me as there guinea pig. One doctor says RA, the other doesn't know what I have.....

Do your reading, decide for yourself. But if it is illegal for you why start? Get legal first, this is a non addictive alternative medication.

Absolutely not! We have enough spaced out people walking around. And please don't believe the story about it can't harm you. The worst thing about it is you can't seem to get full. You eat everything in site. And it lowers your inhibitions much the same way alcohol does. You pretty much lose control. How do I know? Been there done that and it was the worst experience of my life. So if you are looking to become a druggie go ahead. If you have something going for you leave it alone. Not worth it.

I would advise not. I don't think there is anything wrong with it in moderation but sober is the way to be. If you do enjoy it and become a "pothead" it is a very bad thing IMO. You will lose focus, ambition, you will become lazy and when you are high although its not too bad you aren't at your fullest mentally. I suggest not trying it because it's not healthy and its not something I would say you should try before you die. It's pretty nasty of a habit.

It doesn't impair you as much as alcohol and is not addictive like cigarettes but if you smoke weed only do it occasionally. If you do it every day you will be an unmotivated person and be what most consider to be a burnout.

heres the low down on pot. you feel pretty good for a while, then you get hungry. i mean REALLY hungry- like you would eat things you dont even like. then you are extremely tired and you fall asleep wherever you are. when you wake up not only do you feel like a cat just sh** in your mouth but it also feels like you have fur growing on your brain. quite glamorous, huh?
also just to let you know i had a friend years ago that tried it once, he died because he was allergic to it. he came home and went to the fridge to cure his "munchies" and passed out. that was it. all over, i know its rare but it can happen. take it from me, a reformed "pot head" i dont care what everyone says, its just not that great.

Dont do it...all it is is trouble..it feels like your half asleep but your awake and you really cant pay attention to anything...i dont know, personally thats how it felt to me and i had no clue what i was doing and i was scared cuz i had no control over myself (i was extremely high) but it still isnt fun. i dont understand why people like it so much but if you havent noticed theyre all losers that do it...its a bad habit to get into because some people do like it and keep doing it and eventually it gets them nowhere...save yourself the trouble and dont do it.

It depends if you have an addictive personality or not. If you just want to try it, you may like it... ALOT, and want to keep doing it, then you will want to try harder stuff, maybe.. i never did, it didn't like smoke in my lungs. its just another nasty habit if you ask me, i don't think you should. You can get high just by exercising... endorphins.
