Honestly....do you feel like killing yourself at the end of every week? I am at my 5th week of school...and it has been a complete and utter nightmare. Three people failed out of the program last week....thats how wonderful it is. Hopefully I'm not the only one that is overwhelmed....it feels like boot camp for nurses.

I am in a ADN program at a two year tech school, but I plan on getting my BSN and then my MSN. I think I want to teach someday...but I'm not to sure about nursing anymore. They try to destroy the weak...and it really sucks.

Hahaha oh you've brought it all back, I remember the terror of clinicals with mean instructors, doing skills tests in front of stoic faces, people being dropped because they were ONE point short of the standard. Getting up at 4:30, getting to clinicals early to get the "best" patients and read through giant medical texts, research diagnoses and drugs, getting ready for the "pop quiz" that would be coming when my instructor got there.

Well, in OUR class, we lost about 15% of our students each semester, we could only repeat any given semester once, if we flunked the second time, we were out. It is like boot camp, but you know what? Only the first and third semester was bad for me, the second was pretty easy and the fourth was cake (ADN program). This is how they weed out the weak, you are right. If you really want it, hang in there.

Get there early, leave late, never miss a day, research things ahead of time, ask appropriate intelligent questions, and when you get a bad grade on a test or paper, stay after to go over it with the instructor, they will appreciate it. Don't give up, it's worth it.

You didn't mention whether you are an RN or LPN student and 4 year degree or tech college degree. I have been a nurse for 33 years but yes you get a lot thrown at you when you are first starting out. Hopefully some fellow students will reply to support you.
