I'm interested in moving around Toronto, Ontario. A friend of mine is looking to go to school there and wanted me to come along. I might end up going to school there but I'm not sure yet. What I'm asking is if i don't go to school what do I have to do to be able to stay in the country for at least 2 yrs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say what country you are from. I am from the US and worked in Canada. You will need to find a job in which you can be classified by the potential employer as a specialist in your field, meaning that no other Canadian can do the job or it is a hard one to fill. Then you can get a work permit that allows you to stay up to 3 years. The other way is to apply for immigrant status. This was a few years ago that I worked there. Things may have changed. Good luck.

If you decide to go to school there, you will need to get a student visa, which does not allow you to work.
To move up and work, you need a work visa, with a sponsoring employer, and as previous answerer indicated, there are specs and restrictions for this.
Or you can apply for permanent residency, however that process (as well as the others) must take place before you can move to Canada, and it takes 1-3 years or more to get it.

ALl the information you need, including application forms, and fee information, is at the official Canadian Immigration website.
