It is to be expected.

For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. (Matthew 7:13)

They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. (Ephesians 4:18-19)

I chose not to accept Christ as my Lord and Saviour because I dont believe in fairy tales. I will not accept Virgins can give birth or give birth to God's son and I don't believe a human being can descend in the flesh to heaven. As for my soul being damned forever - I think that is a load of rubbish - I believe in Pagan beliefs and I am happy with my whole of life decisions including spirituality and I am a good person who helps people and help their community - I raise my children to believe in doing good things and helping the environment, I do a lot of community work and will always help people in need but because I dont accept Jesus Christ as my saviour my soul will be damned forever - so if I was a murderer or child molester and never gave a damn about anybody but accept Christ as my Lord and Saviour then I go to heaven - absolute rubbish and if thats the case then I can only hope I wont be going to heaven because double standards and hyprocritical nonsence is not what I want to be part of.

You forget that I have my spiritual beliefs and I am not thirsty so no its not like a thirsty man in the desert not accepting a glass of water. Its more like someone comming along and forcing a person who is not thisty to drink a bucket of water - because it makes them feal better.

Not everyone believes that Christianity is the only true religion. There are so many religions out there that actually tell the same stories. You can read creation myths in many religions, and flood myths, sacrifice stories, etc.

I don't believe that I should accept Jesus as a failsafe--just in case. That's a false reason, and a hypocritical one.

I was raised Christian. While I believe Jesus had amazing things to teach us, I have many problems with Christianity as a religion. There are many contradictions in the Bible, and many facets of it which do not mesh with who I belive God to be. I believe God is loving. I do not believe God is a misogynistic chauvanist.

The turning point for me, though, was when I had a preacher say "You cannot pick and choose what you will believe in the Bible. You must believe it all, or you believe none of it." I refused to accept a lot of it. I know that much of it was put in there by the polity of the Church, and is not really the will of God.

It is not like a thirsty man in the desert not accepting a glass of water at all. You are operating under the assumption that your way is the only way.

My faith is that God is so overwhelming that no one can understand all aspects of him. God recognizes our weaknesses--and not just in our lifestyle, but in the ways in which we are capable of understanding his divinity. Therefore, he is the source of all world religions. There are people who cannot accept that one deity could possibly handle everything ... and they are societies that are polytheistic. Same God, just respecting the capacity of the people.

Unfortunately, I know your type. You cannot accept my answer because your faith tells you that anyone who disagrees with you is damned. Thing is, I don't subscribe to your faith. I'm not converting over to hedge my bets. I am not a hypocrite.

Who gives you the right to presume that you know what is good for others. Who gives you the right to judge whether their souls will be damned or not.

Some people believe that he never existed and that he is mereley a Jewish version of all the god-men that were very popular at the time of his supposed life. And your analogy about water is totally wrong. You are assuming religion is like water to a thirsty man when in fact it's more like opium. It'll numb the pain but it won't change his situation.

Pascal's wager:

"If god exists, it's infinitely better to believe, since you get heaven instead of hell for eternity. If he doesn't, it doesn't matter since you're dead anyway. So overall it's better to believe"

This is, of course, false.

Some of the problems with the argument:

* The implied assumption that god may exist (with a 50% probability, no less!)

* The assumption that there is an afterlife with a heaven and hell

* The assumption that the god cares about belief in him/her above all else

* The assumption that if you believe in a god, it will definitely be the same god that actually exists.

* The assumption that you lose nothing if it's false. You have lost a great deal, from time praying to a nonexistent entity (somebody mentioned just today praying several hours a day!!!) to morality (your god may ask you to hurt other people) and much more besides.

* The assumption that people can believe in something simply because it benefits them. Would you believe goblins exist for twenty bucks? Why not?

* The assumption that any god won't see through the "believing just to get into heaven" ploy.

The whole idea of Jesus doesn't make sense. How can there be someone whose death can save someone who is living well after the death took place. How could one man bear the sin of the world? Sin isn't like baggage that can be passed from person to person. It can only be carried by the sinner. A soul isn't something that can seen nor is there a way to prove it's existence. You can't touch or feel it so how could you save it? How could someone be your lord if you've never seen their face?
I don't understand how anyone could believe in something that they can't see. Nothing about religion can be proven, therefore it can't be real.

And I don't understand why people do. Or why "some" of you are hell bent for leather to ram it down other people's throats. Good grief! I'm in a danger zone! Call 911! I'm a very patient, & tolerant person, but I'm getting weary of this sort of AUDACITY. I'm not going to spend any time on this answer, because your mind is in a vice; you don't really want answers, you just want to judge, condemn & preach. Fine Christian YOU are!

I was going to say something about "polluted" water, (in your analogy), but best not to be in your "club."

Why is it that you worry about every little thing? Why can't you just look around you and be happy with what you have in life, and if your not happy, try to change it so that you are. Why do you constantly look at other people's lives, judging them when you hardly even know them?

Why is it that when someone is different from you, you feel the need to change them, instead of realizing that every person is unique, so it is only natural that they have different beliefs as well.

Why can't you simply just close your eyes, and enjoy life?

Yes, Christ is the Savoriest. I stopped going to Church because I found the sacramental wine and wafers to be very savory indeed. Indeed, it awakened in me a cannibalistic yearning that I was afraid to explore further.

What made you choose to not accept Christ before you came to him. That is the same reason why they haven't come to Christ yet. The simple reason why most people haven't they doubt. Other reason's they want to continue living the lifestyle they are living and they don't want to give it up.
