I recieved my bachelors degree in marketing from Franklin University in 2002, but have had a hard time finding anyone to hire me. I completed a marketing internship with a local company, but need guidance. I have mostly had customer service jobs and worked as a promotional sales rep. Most of my profs were adjunct, so hard to find them. Is there anyone out there in central Ohio that can help me out?

Have you looked for a job as a manufacturer's sales rep. These are often entry-level jobs in large consumer goods companies and after a few years there is usually a good chance of moving into the marketing department, brand management etc. As a sales rep, you learn about all of the company's products, competitive products and you have direct experience with your customers, so the knowledge you bring to any other position within the company is valuable.

Try to go back to the college and see if they have career counseling or job placement opportunities. Columbus should have numerous marketing opportunities. One of the largest banks is based in Columbus and I would think Ohio State University would be looking for marketing people.

Are you willing to expand your geographical territory? Here in Cincinnati we have quite a few market research companies. Procter & Gamble, General Electric, Duke Energy, Great American Life Insurance, Chiquita, and Kroger also are based here. You can also try CareerBuilders.com and Monster.com.

My company, Cold Jet which is located in Loveland, OH (20 miles north of Cincinnati) is looking for a Marketing Assistant as well as Sales Representatives. You can go to our website at www.coldjet.com to see if what we sell interests you.

Good luck finding something. You definitely want to find something quick because the longer you wait, the less marketable you are as companies will try to look for people just out of college or those with more marketing experience.
