HELP!!! My 9yo son has REALLY smelly feet, any suggestions? New shoes are out, as he has strange shaped feet and it's a pain in the kazoo to find ones that fit him. Please don't suggest anything with to many chemicals or fragrances, as he is autistic he often reacts to these. We live in Perth Australia so may not be able to get some American products. Thank-you!

It's not his age, he's ALWAYS has this. He can wear a new pair of sandals with clean feet for half an hour and STILL end up smelling bad! It doesn't seem to be a sweat issue.

He may have athletes foot so try soaking his feet in warm water with tea tree oil in it and then drying his feet thoroughly and apply an antifungal cream. Be sure he wears white cotton socks. Since his feet are strange shaped be sure you buy him good shoes at a regular shoe store that can fit his feet. He should also have at least two pair of shoes so that one pair can air out while he wears the other pair.

If he has always had smelly feet, like since he was a baby, then you need to take him to a podiatrist to diagnose the cause. If this is recent, then he may have athlete's foot or a yeast infection which can be treated with over the counter meds.

If after two weeks or so of over the counter drugs the smell does not go away or get better you should definitely go see a podiatrist; they can help you with stronger meds that what you can get at the drug store.

Good luck!

Wash his feet daily with a body brush and deodorant soap. Exfoliating the skin this way will help temporarily. The other peoples suggestions are all good too.

Keep his shoes off until its time to go and take them off as soon as you get home. Cotton socks also may be to hot for his feet. Try finding a different fabric. Good luck hun and take care!
