There's a cut on the bottom of my foot, my big toe, actually, and it was most likely from it being dry. I pushed it closed, it's not bleeding or anything, and when it does bleed, it's only because I was jumping around too much. Normal walking doesn't cause it to bleed, and there's no pain or anything in my foot. If I put vaseline on the cut area, with it help it heal any fast, since it's a moisture related issue? I don't have any neosporin at the moment, the closest thing I've got is the Neosporin lip treatment...and I don't think that'll do much. Will vaseline help? Or are there any other at-home products that could help it heal faster? If anything, I put peroxide on it earlier. So what's the next thing I can do instead?

the lip treatment is good enough for your lips why not & in EMT school (as well as CNA & CHHA school) they teach to use peroxide only in bleaching your hair. It can & does kill live tissue as well as germs. treat your feet like you want them to carry you around for 50 or 60 more years or they WILL get even. avoid flip-flops & open sandles for a while & spring for a pedicure at a clean shop. Your feet will thank you.

You may want to try supergluing the wound closed, but if it's not bleeding or hurting, maybe you don't need to worry about it.

Vaseline will not harm you, but I don't know that it will help healing very much. Peroxide dries out tissue.

When I had a wart on my foot, I used Duct tape to cover it. The duct tape really sealed in the moisture to the point that my skin looked like it'd spent the day underwater. That might help you out too, but you want to make sure the tape isn't gonna stick to the open sore and make it worse.

If there is no bleeding or weeping fluid from the wound, then it has not penetrated the live cells and broken capillaries below the top layer of skin. If this is in fact because the skin cracked because of dryness. it is a natural process which causes the crack, and then it isn't really a wound as such. No bleeding or weeping of fluid means it is in the dead cell outermost layer only and it will never "heal" as such, since only live cells will heal. So, all you need is a moisturizer to soften the outer dry skin to prevent further cracking. Yes, petroluem jelly will do as will baby oil or any hand creme or lotion. All work in the same manner, oils are absorbed into the skin outer layer and soften the skin. Water will do the same over time, like turning into a prune in a long bath. Your problem is one of a lack of oil production in your skin which is inherited. If inherited, and not caused by harsh detergents and such, then you will need to moisturize often to prevent the same thing happening again. I have inherited dry skin and my hands will shed like a peeling sunburn if I do not use a moisturizer on a regular basis, and the same happens on the heels of my feet. On my heels, if I do nothing, it hurts, and then like with a callus, sheds after a period of time. So, I use a moisturizer on an almost daily basis on the parts I know will dry and crack. This has gotten worse with age. It wasn't a problem until I was in my late 30's, when it manifested itself. I suggest you contact a dermitoligist and have him or her look into this, like I did this when I noticed the shedding skin on my heels first, and then several months later on my knuckles and then the shedding spread to the palms of my hands and that is when I sought help to find out what has happening to me. My mother had this exact problem which I have. I only found out from my mother when I mentioned what was heppening to me and she revealed it had happened with her, at about the same time in her life, late 30's.

Vaseline won't help it heal like Neosporin but it may do some good if covered with a band aid.

I guess it woundn't hurt too bad , Can you just leave it with a bandaid only. Keep it clean though. Triple ATB ointment is best if you don't have allergies or neosporin. Watch for increased redness and any red lines goning up your foot. and if swelling occurs. If any of these symptoms occur then go see your MD. Keep your tootsies clean. Take care of your feet, they take the most pressure everyday. I hope this helps. Keep your best foot forward. (joke)

Do not use peroxide as this is to harsh to clean out wounds with. Use the vaseline as this is an excellant first aid treatment as well as a moisturizer. You would be wise to pick up a bottle of tea tree oil to use on your wounds in the future.

The peroxide was to kill germs, i assume? Vaseline will seal in moisture which could help it heal faster. It certainly won't hurt. If it does start to hurt or itch you can use a little Witch Hazel to sooth it.

Ouch, sounds painful. You might put some Neosporin or something on it. I think that will prevent it from getting infected since it is cracked open and neosporin is petroleum based so it should help moisturize it.

THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EFFECTIVELY BANDAGE.
YOU CAN PLACE A PRODUCT CALLED LIQUID SKIN OR NEW SKIN AND CAREFULLY PAINT IT OVER THE CUT WITH THE ATTACHED BRUSH. THIS WILL SEAL THE CUT AND MEDICATE IT TO KEEP BACTERIA FROM CAUSING FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE VERY THIN TRANSPARENT COATING WILL WEAR OFF IN A FEW DAYS.
