God is present everywhere, even within ourselves, then why billions of dollars are spent on building places of worship like temples, churches .mosques etc. Will it not be better to spend the same money for removing poverty, illnesses and make life better for all human beings.

Places of WORSHIP built
so that we can worshuip there.
When at a perticuler place so many people worship
then chances are more that GOD comes there to
accept our prays. So its not wastage.
To remove poverty / illness money is not only thing required.
Political will is the most requirement thing for it.

Because God is present in a special way in places of Worship. Temples were built in the Old Testament because the Israelites knew that the presence of God was especially in, for example, the Ark of the Covenant. In the Catholic faith, Churches house the tabernacle wherein the Blessed Sacrament, what we believe to be the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ, is kept. Yes, God is present within us and in our world, but man needs more visible and tangible signs. In Churches and temples, we also see the magnificence of God reflected in what humble buildings we can create to honor him. However, I am not saying do not feed the poor and hungry. But don't assume that Churches and temples serve no purpose.

Not all religions say God is present everywhere.
Islam says God is above all skies, beyond universe.
Places of worship are not made for God to stay.

I'm not an authority to comment about other religions. But for Muslims, Mosque play a big role in it's social setup.

and you were right, we also should spend money for different good deeds.

The same question was comming in my mind but i have studied & it is true also that we all r one , in temples we can gather at atime & we all can concentrate our mind and feel that god is there as we have forgotten him.
Lord krishna, gave out the secret of controlling the mind in these two words Abhyasa and Varagya, even all the saints and sages have declered that there is no other way of controlling the mind excepy through 'practice' and 'dispassion' and this only we controlled the Intability of mind through temples.
and worship places are the only and only place where we can get relaxation and have new ideas and charged with new energy.

we have God inside us but have you realized him perhaps not. so to realize the God inside and everywhere you need to prey in front of God . For that a holi place which should be free of impurities, dirtiness, peacefull and having the environment which can direct your mind towards the God is made for worship. by making such building you are helping the poor , sick man because these all suffderings are are created in human by themselves so if he will sit in a holi place like temple then he will be filled with positive thoughts ,confidence onedirectionness of mind, can attain knowledge of good and bad deeds and their results ................. which are very effective way of treatment

There is no harm in having a place for worshipping provided if no entries are barred. Provided if it is not made out to be another place for pastime. Provided if the place has got a spiritual ambience, or presence of at least one true devotee.

YES, GOD IS EVERYWHERE. WE HUMAN BEINGS WERE WANDERERS IN THE OPEN EATING HERBS AND WERE ALSO HUNTING ANIMALS FOR MEAT AND THERE WAS A TIME WE ATE RAW MEAT THEN WE STARTED LIVING IN CAVES COVERING OUR BODIES WITH ANIMAL SKIN AND STARTED ROASTING MEAT AND THEN ATE IT. WE HAVE CIVILISED OUR SELVES IN THIS WAY THAT WE BUILT HOMES WITH A ROOM TO COOK,WITH A ROOM TO SLEEP, WITH A ROOM TO FRESH-UP OUR SELVES, SO ONLY WE ARE BUILDING A PLACE TO WORSHIP IN REVERENCE TO A PERSON WHO IS MAKING EVERY SINGLE CELL, TISSUE, ORGAN, AND ORGAN SYSTEM TO FUNCTION IN CO-ORDINATION. WE INSTEAD OF PONDERING OVER MONEY SPENT TO BUILD WORSHIP PLACES, IF WE CAN START HELPING A POOR PERSON IN WHATEVER WAY WE CAN, WE CAN ERADICATE POVERTY.

The reality is that we need a place to get together with other believers to worship together and have fellowship together. Building a church should not exclude a congregation from helping the poor.

Because we need to set aside space directed toward the Worship of God. Over course we must live our lives knowing God is everywhere, but sacred spaces serve the purpose of allowing us to Glorify the God who is all deserving of our love.

if the religious folk were truly charitible they would sell the Vatican and end world hunger. people can worship in an open field just as easily as they can in a spired building.
