Listen to really catchy music. If you find yourself humming a catchy song that you have in your head, you'll probably notice that for no apparent reason you feel happier than usual! (Or at least cheerful, not exactly the same as happy but still nice...)

I am bipolar depressive. I know how it is to be depressed. I think about how i feel hopeless but really, Im not. therapy doesnt really help me either. You arent the only one facing this, and what I would suggest is reading or the outdoors. Ever tried to cook or bake yummy things? Thats a good way to cheer you up, especially if you concoct something yummy. Do you have a pet? Those are tons of fun. Just not a fish- they dont do to much. Lol. Do you have family around? Do they know whats going one. Build a support group if you can if not, well you are still here for some reason- must be because you are strong person. Its not your fault. There are millions of people who are depressed and they keep on because it really isnt hopeless.

I have some tips for you.

1)stay active. If you start feeling sad, try taking a walk--exercise is known to boost your mood and self esteem, and being active will get your mind off things. Or just do anything physical that you like--swimming, running, biking, go to a gym, etc.

2)try not to spend too much time alone. Isolating yourself will make you focus on your problems. Spend much time with family and friends, and consider joining a club, organization, or volunteering! It will give you something to do and you'll make more friends.

3)Aromatherapy. It works. I promise. Scents that are known to relax you include lavender, vanilla, spearmint, eucalyptus, etc...it really does help. Bath and Body Works makes a pillow spray in Lavendar Vanilla that is great, because you spray it on your pillow/sheets, and it helps you go to sleep.

4)Write. Even if you're not very good! Write poems. Express yourself. It's a great outlet. Start a journal. Anything!

I hope these help!

Two things:

Try exercise. It's been shown to help with depression. consider it a prescription, try 30 minutes of walking three times a week, and work up to one hour five times a week.

Also, try reading a book called Learned Optimism. It will teach you to avoid thoughts which are pessimistic and global (it will always be like this, it will always be bad) and to replace them with positive thoughts, which will help a lot.

Get a routine like a workout or a hobby, and just never dwindle on one thought for too long, it f**** you up when you do that, then you start thinking about bad things, and remember that life is supposed to be a little stressful and that its normal to get stressed, just don't take things too far.......

Get physical exercise, eat healthy, talk to a counselor, & develop a support group.
