I was parked behind someone in a friends driveway and they hit me while backing up to leave (didn't know I was there) what are my options? Its in michigan, no fault state, if that matters. Also we both just have the minimum PLPD, what exactly can I do? Its not bad at all, im just wondering what my options are.

Well, being that your in the driveway(private property), and its a no fault state, your options are :
1. He willingly accept the damages and pay you for them.
2. Or you sue him for the damages, providing you prove what he did in court.

I WOULD SUGGEST IF OPTION 1 IS NOT FEASIBLE, TAKE PICTURES AND GET WITNESSES TO BACK YOU UP. OTHERWISE ITS A HE SAID SHE SAID TYPE OF SITUATION.

YOU COULD HAVE CALLED THE POLICE AND HAD THEM TAKE A REPORT JUST FOR YOUR RECORDS. THEY ARE HELPFUL IN COURT, BECAUSE MOST AGENCIES SHOULD TAKE PICS OF THE DAMAGE AND TAKE YOUR STATEMENT.

GOOD LUCK

Check with your state to see what no fault means as it means something different in each state. Some people think their state is a no fault state and it is not. My state is a no fault state but only for your injuries.

Turn in a claim to his insurance company and they will take care of the damages to your vehicle. Even with minimum liability limits it will be enough to cover the damage

legally, and morally, they are entirely to blame. if your car was parked and they hit you, it's their fault!

since it's a friend, I hope you can work it out for yourselves. if you have to go to court, that will cost both of you time and money (and possibly your friendship). but don't back down - they should pay for the damage for sure.

they made a mistake and now it's up to them to fix it.

If they hit you, they have to pay for any damages. Or rather, their insurance company does, unless it's cheap enough for them to just go ahead and pay it themselves.

you would probably be better off settling this between each other ,since it wasn't that bad ,it probably wont cost that much to get it repaired, its better if its between two friends to work it out between each other, good luck i hope this help,s.
