So, I've been seeing this guy for a year. Started off as friends then the friendship turned sexual. After about 6 months I knew that I had feelings for him so I asked him what exactly our relationship meant to him. He said he wasn't ready for anything serious right now but that he's happy seeing only me. He's very affectionate & we have great conversation. It's like he has no problem commiting to being with just me but he doesn't want the hassle of being in a relationship. Recently, he did admit that his previous relationship (which lasted 3 years) ended because his gf was very controlling, jealous & even ended up cheating on him. I get the feeling that maybe he's scared it will end up the same way with me but since we've been seeing each other for a year wouldn't he know by now that I wouldn't hurt him like that? By the way, we are both in our late 20's so this isn't some teenage drama. Should I give this some more time & see how he feels or just end it now before I get too attached?

Personally whether he likes it or not he is in a relationship...just noy "official" on his end. It sounds like the the both of you really care for eachother and since it seems like you both are also mature, just talk to him about it. Tell him how you are feeling and ask why he is unwilling to committ. Best of luck

Amazing. Girls give guys what they want then at some point ask, "how serious are we. Glad I am not dating these days and glad I live by Biblical principles no matter who thinks they are out dated. If he is being truthful overall he sounds like an ok guy,but I always question a guy who is enjoying your body but not" ready to commit". Proceed with caution girl. with 50 stds and chance of preg.,proceed with caution.

you should definately give this some more time... he is still feeling you out, but isn't ready to be hurt again, or maybe he's not ready to commit just yet.. either way is ok... some people date for years, then finally decide one day that they are right and get engaged, w/o ever having any formal gf/bf title... keep it real, trust, and communicate and he'll eventually come around...

Give him time. If it goes okay, great! If he decides he can't commit after another year, it's time to sit him down and give him the flat truth: you don't know where you're going, and you really want to. Good luck.

You're right. He probably is afraid, and there's nothing wrong with that. Give it more time, sooner or later he'll realise that you aren't going to cheat on him. Take it slow, make sure he knows that you aren't going to cheat on him, or be like his other girlfriend.
