This does not have to be an obstacle think outside the box.I experienced the same situation . The most popular venue in my hometown has the same rules so I have seen many alternate ideas.
Here are a few ideas for a no mess wedding to keep your wedding site happy.
- Butterflies t wishes!(outside) This is always lovely for a warmer wedding .If you can't afford to give an envelope to each guest then just your wedding party. I have seen this done at a large wedding and we were all so fascinated by watching the butterfles flutter around us we did not care that we did not have our very own . Also the pictures from that are amazing!
- Ribbon wands -these can be done in your wedding colors and waved when you walk this also creates gorgeous pictures.
You can make them your self the cost is up to you.
I know someone who makes them.
-Surprise them - buy half bubbles half bells put half of each in two cloth bags thet brides amids or friends are holding have guest reach in and get their own.
Also if you have a flower girl and she can't throw petals you could do what I did at my wedding .
I had an outgoing girl . We put 3 flower stands on each side of the aisle . We gave her 6 Gerbera Dasies to pass out to people beside each flower stand . After she came up she held my bouquet.
The flowers could be put in a beautiful baskest or carried like a bouquet.
Also she could hold the maid of honor's arrangement while she holds yours.
This is by far one of the cutest things on our wedding video .
Best wishes!

This depends on if you're talking about during or after the ceremony. Most churches don't allow real rose petals because they will stain the carpet. If you're set on real ones, you can ask if you can roll out a red carpet or something to throw the petals onto. I've seen this done specifically because of that rule. Otherwise, use fake petals. After the ceremony, it is traditional to throw rice, but that is not allowed anymore, because birds will eat it and eventually explode, because the rice expands too much in their stomachs.... it's actually pretty funny to watch a bird explode... sorry..... but an alternative is to throw bird food. It's bird friendly, and you still get to throw stuff.
Hope this helps.
And I've never purposely made a bird explode... just saw it happen one day...

I suggest you sit down and talk with your ceremony location as to what is permissible. They may not allow you to "throw" any thing (i.e., confetti, birdseed). A lot of places have gone away from that because they have to clean it all up afterwords. After consulting with them, if throwing of any kind is not permissible, you could do bubbles or sparklers as some has mentioned. Or you don't necessarily have to do anything at all. Our send away was just as fun and we didn't have anything, just people clapping, waving, and saying goodbye.

In the sash you can place candied almonds in place of rice or bird seed. You can have a lot of baskets full of decorations for the car and let each family member add a special something to it before you depart as a way of showing there best wishes to you. Don't forget the cans to tie onto the bumper and the soap to write "JUST MARRIED" It should be fun to see your whole family participate. Be sure to get pictures with several disposable cameras also in the baskets. This should send you off in good spirits to the reception or the honeymoon.

Why do you have to use real rose petals? Use silk ones, they're cheaper and can be cleaned up. They don't stain or create a mess. They come in all colors and they don't wilt. And they're beautiful. People will throw whatever you give them! Alternatives: Bubbles, ribbon spools, balloon release, butterfly release, colorful leaves, confetti.

I've seen people use bubbles, and I've seen people ring bells instead of throwing anything.
One thing to consider - if they throw confetti or birdseed at you, you are going to have to get all that birdseed out of your updo, and probably your dress, too. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, it's just something to consider.
It was after Ispent 45 minutes helping my girlfried pick birdseed out of her hair while trying not to ruin her updo that I chose not to have any throws at my own wedding.
Best of luck!!

You can have people blow bubbles or use sparklers if you're leaving at night. The bird seed is a good idea too.
Or, nothing at all. The three weddings I was in this past year, including my own, did nothing for the grand exit.

The only thing that I have seen is bubbles. Blowing bubbles leaves no mess for the church to clean up. You could possibly do bird seed, so that the birds eat it. Ask about that

Depending on the time of day, you should think about sparklers ... they always add a fun element and kids love playing with them!!
You could also ring little silver (or gold) bells adorned with ribbon ... again, people love to make noise!!
Good luck!

I've gone to some weddings and they use bubbles, like soap bubbles, and there is not mess to clean up or anything getting in your dress or your hair.
