Yes, that's exactly it.

For every transitional fossil that comes up the creationist will just look and say 'Now there are two gaps!'

They still go on about the missing link between apes and humans but how many extinct hominid species have we found? Over 30! Is that sufficient proof? Of course not. You'd have to be sane and rational to accept evidence. Creationists are neither. They have a profound love of ignorance.

Probably, since science wouldn't be looking for a SINGLE but a MUTLIPLE. Missing LINKS. There has to be many steps in the evolutionary chain of events.

The real "missing link" however is that one chimp that talks or creates.

The "man apes" in 2001 that touched the Monolith and discovered war and weapons.

That's your missing link. That one creature that concretely separates prime-ape from man-ape.

That would be the one evolutionary jump.

That animal that uses fire intentionally instead of just when it's convienent.

I think it's a just a misunderstanding. Everytime we find a new fossil, linking two species, they then complain that there are even MORE gaps to be filled. I don't think there is any real 'missing link'. We have a pretty good idea about how things happened.

To a point, we have found many transitional stages of many creatures and there is no real one link, there are many. The fact that something is missing is argued by the Christians hoping that if they yell loud enough people will believe them.

I believe that, they knew as soon as Darwin discovered evolution, the church had to invent a hole in the theory. Because it changed everything that religion believes about our origins. Science always does that, forces us to change our views of ourselves for the better. Knowledge is preferable than ignorance.
