to you what is love? How would you define it?

Love is what you feel when you can't be without someone. When you think of them at all times of the day. The feeling that even though that person has made you feel the worst, you keep the same feeling. It's hard to "unlove", because once your heart decides it's love, it will never be anything else.

Love is the feeling you feel towards another person, which is stronger than any feeling you have felt before.

Lovers call it by many different names, its defined differently and uniquely by each and every person. Matrimonial ceremonies claim that love is not jealous or boastful. Love is not a gourmet dish, a domesticated animal, or a latest trend. Love is not a strategic defense mechanism nor the best kept secret at the Pentagon. Love is not a seasoning to bottle and stick on the dust lined shelves of the spice rack. Love is not to be confused with adhesive tape.

Instead, love is a great counterpart to late evening thunderstorms on hot July nights. Love goes well with cold pizza on picnic blankets. Love is cold, wet sand between bare toes. Love is a capitalistic sell-all for novels, top 40 pop songs, summer movies and greeting cards.

In its simplest terms, love is a four letter word. Much like other words of similar letter make up, when expressed it can evoke pleasure, desire, tenderness, laughter, pain, and anger. Love is food for a happy mind. It is kindness, devotion, or affection to another. Love is the most wonderful experience in the world, yet it can hurt you more than anything, physical pain hurts less. Love is sacrifice. Love is quite good if shared between two with trust and understanding, and at the same time dangerous.

Love is so hard to define because its felt, expressed, and viewed differently by each and every person. We all come to know love over time though, the good and the bad side, one way or another.

Love is being so close to someone that you share all of their joy and their pain and when they hurt it hurts you too. Love is being willing to do anything for someone. Love is when the most perfect place in the world is resting your head on your lover's shoulder. Love is having someone to come home to at the end of the day who makes everything all right. Love is knowing everything about a person and not just accepting the things about them that are silly or weird or even bad but actually loving those things, too, because they're part of what makes that person who they are. And love is knowing that this person feels exactly the same way about you.

Love is the finest emotion God has given to human beings. It is always there but only lucky ones fall into it. It is a supreme feeling with no match or equal in terms of wordly things like diamobd, gold or other goodies. Just sex is not love. Love is a unique fine feeling. It is not something to be achieved by efforts it just happens a God given gift.

ahhhh, so many different answers.... Love is often overused for feelings. But to me true love is when my baby boy smiles at me when i walk in the room, his laughter when my day has been horrible or the way he cuddles when he is tired. He unknowingly could have any thing in this world from me at those times. Or when my husband thinks i am sleeping and slips his arms around me, when you are so comfortable with each other that its ok to fart because you know you both will laugh until you cry or when i am pms'ing and crying just because i feel like it and he doesn't say a word ( or laugh! :), but holds me so tight. Its at those times my heart literally hurts because I can't say i love you enough.

Love means so much , Its giving of yourself to someone else, no ifs and ands attached.
Love is life, the wonders of each thing we see and touch each day.
Love is Trusting .caring.and being honest with the ones closest to you.
Love is taking someone else is pain and making it yours.
Love is getting up in the middle of the night to care for a sick family member.
Love is watching each others back.
Love is knowing when to talk and when to keep quiet.
Love is being there for each other.
If there is love you need nothing else, everything else will fall in place.
Its easy to say I Love You, The hard part is to live it.

Love is the greatest feeling,
Love is like a play,
Love is what I feel for you,
Each and every day,
Love is like a smile,
Love is like a song,
Love is a great emotion,
That keeps us going strong,
I love you with my heart,
My body and my soul,
I love the way I keep loving,
Like a love I can't control,
So remember when your eyes meet mine,
I love you with all my heart,
And I have poured my entire soul into you,
Right from the very start.

love is just love

Well Docpepper,

It might make more sense to suggest what love is not:

Love does not deceive.

Love dose not destroy.

Love dose not intentionally hurt, and finally

Do unto others what you want done to you.

caring about some one more than you do yourself. It is better to be a "has been" than a "never was"
