Lose weight at a steady pase. I used a book called "Strength Training for Women". It has colored pictures of every workout, breaks it out into areas. I love the book, has lots of exercises I've never heard of that are VERY effective. When everything happens slowly, its happening healthier. Nature never rushes.
I got the book at Barnes & Noble, and amazon has it as well. The reviews were really good too. Its designed to give you a toned womanly body ; ) AND they're all exercises you can do on a mat at home. I did the spot reducing workout one day, and boy was I hurting!
As far as eating... try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible. A lot of those ingredients cause harm to our bodies. I still eat my sausage and pepperoni pizza every once in a while lol. Its just all about the calories in and calories out. Take your vitamins and feed your cells what they need. Otherwise your efforts could backfire.
Random: I found to make ab workouts more effective... If you have a wrist weight or ankle weight, place it across your abs, and do your crunches as usual. The extra weight actually forces your lower back to help out.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Losing weight by working out would give you good muscle tone. Since you're a mom, you could do yoga or pilattes in the comfort of your own home. Yoga really gets your muscles in shape, you would feel more flexible too. For tummy trouble, jogging and sit-ups (crunches, knees and calves in the air type sit-ups) are good remedies.

Use excercise to lose the weight! Running, in my experience, is the best way to lose weight and gain strength in muscles at the same time. Do as much running as you can on a slightly fast jog pace (in my gym it's level 10) and put it at a slight upwards incline Start excercising on just protein, nothing else, you'll burn your fat reserves but still have protein for the muscle build up. Remember starving yourself could make your excercising ineffective because you need certain things to build muscle (mainly proteins)

I always say the same thing, healthy balanced diet and moderate exercise. If you are trying to get rid of a mummy tummy, you will have to work on your abs.
You can tighten up your mummy tummy, but you carried a little person in there for 40 weeks. There is always going to be a little loose skin, but if you tone up your abs, you will fill most of it with muscle and it won't look bad.

If you work out, you won't loose the muscle- on the contrary, you may build some. Since muscle weights more than fat, it may look as if you are not loosing weight, but look at how your clothes feel etc.

Reduce the stress. Your stress hormone cortisol might be activated by extremely low-calorie weight loss plans, intense training, lack of snooze and day-to-day worries, which ends in a spike in glucose levels inside your blood. More worryingly, it can contribute to blocked arteries and fat increase around your internal organs, putting you in danger of diabetes and heart disease. Really the only prescription for this is to… pass the time.
