What do you think about Huntington Beach? (Me and my friend are wanting to sunbathe, people watching, and possibly doing some water sports).
Would you suggest other beaches to do stuff like that that is close to LA?

If you head to Huntington Beach, I think you'll have a good time. It's got the Main Street strolling area where you can shop, dine and take in a movie. Or, you can head out onto the pier for fishing, admiring the surfers, renting a kite or grabbing a bite to eat at Ruby's Diner. If you want to stroll, bike, jog or skateboard, you'll find a miles-long concrete "board" walk running along the beach area. Parking? Well, there are huge lots that rarely fill up, plus some on-street parking, as well.
In LA County, it's hard to beat the Santa Monica pier for fun; the Venice Beach Boardwalk for unique experiences; Manhattan, Hermosa, or Redondo beaches for beauty; Dockweiler Beach for solitude; or the 26 miles of Malibu Beaches for beauty, uncrowdedness, and a great scenic drive.

I think you picked a good one already. Huntington beach is really set up for the beach scene and has a nice boardwalk. It is like Surfing Central, You might possibly see a whale in the ocean and can visit the surfing museum...there are many others--- the entire coast , just about, is beaches-- but why try and reinvent the wheel.

Huntington is ok, but occasionally there are issues w/ bacteria in the water. You may want to check online to make sure that the water is safe to swim in before you go. If you are looking to do other things besides water sports, Venice Beach is a really fun and interesting place to visit, especially if you want to go people watching. You will probably want to avoid Long Beach because of its bad traffic and pollution.

i live near HB and go to the beach there i love it!!!!!!!!!! its soo nice there and most people are really nice. and i am a girl informing you that lots of girls play volleyball in bikinis there haha.

HB is ok, but I prefer Newport.
