In my KJV it's called both

SONG OF SOLOMON 1
1 The song of songs, which is Solomon's.

Maybe more modern translations have mutated this further. I'm really not that familiar with the NIV or other modern Bibles.

It's not an official change, they are both correct terms for the book. It is unlikely that Solomon wrote the entire book (if any at all) so song of songs is a more comprehensive names. Both are accepted though.

The original in hebrew is ShirHaShirim, shir, means song, and the name in hebrew its like song of songs, like saying is the greatest song ever made.

Was writen by salomon when he was young, talking about a romance he had, and the wises of israel had said its a metaphore about God and Israel.

So, song of songs its the correct name from the hebrew, but as it was composed by salomon, song of salomon its also right.
