It seems that most people who are religious practice the religion that their parents are. If you do that, how are certain that it is the "correct" religion?

Suppose you were born to Hindu parents and adopted by Christians in another country. Would you be Christian, because likely you would be raised that way? Would you be Hindu, because you were born to Hindus? Most importantly, whatever your choice, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL CERTAIN THAT IT IS THE RIGHT RELIGION FOR YOU TO PRACTICE?

Why do people criticize people of other religions, when most people only practice a religion because they were born into it?

It's a matter of what best satisfies your needs both as a human being and as a spiritual being. It's the religion that feels most complete for you, because everyone finds different religions that are complete for them. Perhaps your upbringing may lead you one way, but society might lead you another way. Either way, it's up to you to decide.

I was born into a family without faith of any kind. My mother did not discourage it in any way but neither was it encouraged. I attended a Baptist church and felt it was to hmm showy maybe or loud might be the right word. I later attended Catholic mass with my older sister who had decided it was for her. I found it to repetitive without enough explanation. I gave up for years but then after having children I wanted a basis for morals to teach them. I then met a Witness who offered me some literature. I enjoyed it and then began studying the bible. I found that each of their beliefs could be backed up by numerous scriptures. I began attending Christian meetings and changing my life to align with God's standards. I was baptized 3 years ago and have not regretted it for a second. I do get discouraged when I stumble but the congregation has become like my family and are always there to help me. Prayer and study help also to strengthen me. I love the ministry work and telling people about the truths that can be found in the bible. I hope everyone takes the time to really learn what the bible teaches.

I wasn't born into my religion, I was raised by my mom and she has always held hostility towards Christians and Christianity. Last month she called me a religious fanatic.

I don't criticize other people, no matter how much I differ with their theology.

I believe in my religion because my conscience unalterably carried me to it. I can't explain how............... but every time I would question my faith, I would study it to try to find fault with it, but my faith would always end up stronger and placed firmly.

Of course, certitude is impossible. But evidence can be (and should be) convincing, and in the case of religion, none of them have any. So it's a matter of personal comfort as much as anything. Since there is no evidence for any religion, the sensible choice is to believe in none of them.

destiny is a human concept. there is not any info for it that exists outdoors of the human strategies. In an overpowering volume of situations, faith is desperate for a baby based on the religious ideals of the mothers and dads. the final public of young little ones are unwillingly indoctrinated. the final public are no longer given an selection yet to persist with what their person parent(s) come to a determination for them. each physique is born an atheist till they're indoctrinated via somebody else or willingly elect to coach a faith. faith, spirituality, deities, etc. are mentioned and indoctrinated to human beings. they are no longer born with those strategies. finally, faith is a call, enormously as an person, yet little ones are no longer many times given a call.

If it is right you will know it. When you think about it, it will make you feel happy and peaceful, and you won't have any doubts. If you don't know what is right for you yet, then try exploring, going to services, reading, and whatever else works for you. You'll discover what you find meaningful.

When you walk into the right church, you just *know*. I was born and raised a baptist but it just seemed so dead. The day I walked into a pentecostal church, I wanted what they had...and boy did I ever get it!!

Its a good question. We live now in the age of information and those of us who are able are responsible to use our minds and our resources to investigate the truth for our selves. To believe blindly is to throw away our opportunity. To choose upon a whim is to throw away our opportunity. There are only a little handful of people on earth who will bother to research the issue of religion fully.

I have interviewed many people on this subject. I ask them: If you could ask the foremost Authority, the Creator of us all, a question, what would you ask? About 20% said they would want to know why they exist. On further questioning only 6% of those said they would investigate to find the answer and about 3% said they actively research the issue on their own.

It is interesting that some say that there is no evidence of God or religion. Where did you look? Why do I find so much evidence and you find none? You have been left out in the dark by your own doing.

Too bad if you are like the poor soul who believes that people cannot investigate and think for themselves. Upon those who make the effort with a pure heart God bestows His assistance.

your certain because you believe it to be certain. I consider this thought.

I believe with out a doubt that the catholic church is absolutely right. is there a possibility I am wrong, yes. But I don't believe I am, because If i believed I might be wrong that I wouldn't believe in my faith.

this idiotic concept of "thinking for yourself" is absolute garbage no one thinks for themselves, they analyze what they hear and see and use these to justify their beliefs.

This information helped me.

What is false religion?

Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with “false” religion.

False Religion...MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

False Religion...SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul or spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die.” Ezekiel 18:4 Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected, an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?

False Religion...TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men.” 1 Cor. 6:9,10 Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?

How to identify true religion.

True Religion...PRACTICES LOVE: True worshippers are “no part of the world,” are not divided by race or culture, and display “love among themselves.” Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another.

True Religion...TRUSTS GOD'S WORD: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its doctrine on God's Word, the Bible

True Religion...STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HIGH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,” helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”

True Religion is available, search for it.
