It means sulfur. Hell's supposed to smell like it. Smells like eggs, it does. I can think of a lot more scary smells than eggs, but hey, I didn't write the bible.

Old name for Sulfur. It is spelt with a F not a PH even though I'm British - the IUPAC made a ruling on it a few years ago.
